* I am a miner and I'm part of the community where I live. I have lived and worked in this community all my life. I am second generation working in the coal mine industry.
* Mining is already a highly regulated industry that operates under some of the strictest environmental conditions in the world.
* I am very concerned about calls to change the Planning Bill to make it even harder for mining in this state. That's bad for my job and other local jobs in my area.
* The uncertainty in the planning system over the past two and a half years has been terrible for the economy. I am worried that my job could be affected if opponents of mining get their way.
* I urge you to pass the Planning Bill without any amendments that would threaten my job and the economy.

I support the Warkworth extension due to the economic benefits it will bring to the area and surrounds. This extension will also assist the local governments, schools and sporting teams with rates and donations from the company. The work will also assist area with employing locals and support local small businesses.

Dear.
I support mining in NSW and urge you to do the same.
I am concerned about the impact of government policies on our mining industry. Mining contributes a great deal to our state. It is the biggest export industry in NSW, provides tens of thousands of direct jobs, provides billions in royalties, and supports jobs in other industries like manufacturing. But new layers of regulation and an increasingly complicated planning system threaten the industry in NSW and put our future prosperity at risk.
Mining in NSW is facing the toughest conditions in 20 years with many jobs lost in the last six months and many more could follow. While mining regions like the Hunter bear the brunt of these job losses, Sydney will also be affected as investment and revenue are lost to NSW.
Yours sincerely

I am an employee at MTW i have worked here in varying roles for 25 years.
i am currently in the CHPP and i a have a senior role on shift production, this job has enabled me to raise a family and is ensuring i have a bright future into my retirement years.
i have lots of friends that work in and around the coal industry so the loss of our workings here will not only affect me but thousands of other working familys, which depend on the futuer of Mount Thorely Warkworth Operations

I work for a contractor who does work on a number of mine sites in the Singleton-Muswellbrook area. Not surprisingly, I am quite pro-mining, (within reason). From what I can see, the vast bulk of people (and not just in this area), do well, if not very well, out of mining. Wages paid in the industry are generally high, and working conditions are good. There are flow-on effects to people and businesses in other localities, in terms of goods and services purchased, and jobs created. Hence, provided reasonable environmental conditions are met, I think mines and mining should be given the green light whereever possible. There are just too many positives and too few negatives.

RE: Application No: DA 300-9-2002-i MOD 6
Dear Director,
I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.
I have been employed by Coal & Allied for 7 years, and my family depends on my employment.
Mount Thorley Warkworth provides a stable income for over 1,300 full time employees in the Hunter Valley. And the operation of the mine reaches into many other businesses that supply MTW. Thousands of people depend on this mine and if production was to drop, the result could be devastating.
We have lived with uncertainty for the past 4 years, going through an approvals process to secure an extension to our 30 year old operation on land that we own over which we have a mining lease. This approval was given after consultation with the NSW state regulators, Federal regulators and finally the Planning and Assessment Commission in February 2012. The approval was over turned in the Land and Environment Court in April 2013. This decision has been appealed by both ourselves and NSW Planning in the Supreme Court. We are waiting on a decision with the best possible outcome being that we go back into the Land and Environment Court for a further 12 to 18 months with no guarantee of any outcome. Our competitiveness as an investment destination is extremely questionable.
MTW puts
* $200M into the local Hunter Valley economy through paying companies that do work for MTW each year.
* Pay $220M wages and salaries to our employees who spend locally, pay taxes etc.
* Pay approximately $95M in Royalties to the state of NSW to help pay for hospitals and schools etc etc.
Our mine life will
* be shortened by 37 years if we don't secure the approvals that we have already secured, but that have been rescinded.
* That is 220 million tonnes of coal resource left in the ground,
* $22B revenue that this state loses access to,
* $1.83B of royalty this state will not see from the MTW mine alone.
All we are doing is seeking to be allowed to continue to mine and generate income for the NSW and Australian economy.
We need certainty. We've been wondering what the future holds now for four years. If this minor modification to an existing, 30 year old mine does not get approved, I am worried about what this will mean for local jobs and investment across the NSW mining industry.
Please accept this submission in support of the Warkworth Modification.
Regards
Simon Coleman

I am writing to support the extension of Mount Thorley/ Warkworth mine.
This place of employment creates many jobs for not only myself but other groups within the community.
Without this extension many people would be effected. I believe the company is doing its best to minimise the disturbance to the environment and neighbouring communities and should be given approval for this such development.

I support this project because the mining industry supports my family and provides much needed employment in the Hunter Valley. this project has previously been approved through a five year approval process. I see no significant environmental issues with this minor modification. The sooner it is approved, the sooner the local workforce and their families will have some certainty of their futures in the region.

i support the warkworth extension because mining is an integral part of my life for both me and my family.
i have just started a new family and am building a house so financial stability is a key factor. i also want to continue my working life at the mine after buidling a house based on its location being closer to the mine. i also am 2nd generation to the mining industry and would like for my kids to be a part of a world class operation.i also think that approving the extension will set the benchmark for great new things in the hunter valley along with supporting local buisnesses that rely on warkworth mine.

I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth mine for 22 months as a mobile equipment operator. I am relatively new to the mining industry and intended to have a long future in the industry. Mount Thorley Mine provides a stable income for 1300 employees and reaches into the community via many other businesses. However if this modification does not go through the results could be devastating. I would lose my job as a contractor at the mine and probably have to leave to area to continue to stay in the mining industry.
Please accept my submission in support of the Warkworth Modification.

To whom it may concern,
I have been working at Mt Thorley Warkworth for past 2 plus years. I relocated my young family from Western Australia to NSW with the hope of a secure and long term future in coal mining. We as a family have invested everything we have in buying a property in the small country town of Gresford.
As the sole income provider the future of the Warkworth extension means a secure future for my family.

I'm an employee of Mount Thorley Warkworth mine and fully support the Warkworth consent 2003 Modification 6, to secure the future of Mount Thorley Warkworth mine. Which in turn will secure future employment for all levels of employees (approx. 1300). The roll on effect will benefit the broader community, by supporting local businesses. It will also increase local employment in the Hunter Valley.

I have been an employee of Mount Thorly Warkworth for 5 years as a mobile equipment operator. Should the modification not be successful, my ability to meet my commitments to my financial institution will be in jeopardy. Will my family needs be taken into account by the relevent parties deciding on this modification.
Is anybody willing to guarantee my families future and wellbeing in the Hunter Valley. The impact on the community and 1300 full time employees at MTW if the modifcation doesn't go through will be devasting.
