I, as a resident of the Georges Fair Estate and on behalf of my family, strongly OPPOSE the proposal for the development of the waste facility in Moorebank.
Name Withheld
Object
moorebank , New South Wales
Message
I oppose the proposed Moorebank Waste Processing Project (Project Number 05 0157) at Lot 6 DP
1065574, Newbridge Road, Moorebank.

1. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the proposed development is far too close to existing
and proposed residential homes. The proposed development is just 250 metres from the Georges Fair housing
estate. Trucks using the proposed facility will travel even closer to residential homes. Trucks will likely short cut
through Georges Fair, passing parks and local residents, using roads not designed for massive trucks.
2. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the risks from asbestos and toxins. At the community
consultation meeting held on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club, the representatives of the developer refused to
comment on whether asbestos would be processed at the facility and whether toxins would be released. There is
a link between silica dust and lung cancer (`Occupational Exposure to Silica and Lung Cancer', Cancer
Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention Journal, Volume 19, 2010). There is no known cure for silicosis (`A
Brief Review of Silicosis in the US', Environ Health Insights, Volume 4, East Carolina University, 2010). The
developer plans to install sweepers "where trucks and people will travel" and that there are "unsealed areas" in the
development. Their own documentation refers to "likely dust from the recycling facility" (pg 3, developer's
information distributed on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club). This is an unacceptable health risk for local
residents.
3. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the potential for flooding. The proposed development
is in an area that floods. In the event of a flood, unsafe building materials and material stockpiles may cause an
environmental disaster throughout Moorebank and the entire Georges River Basin.
4. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the NSW Government has indicated there will be "a
return of local planning powers to local communities" (`NSW govt scraps 3A planning provision', SMH, 4/4/2011).
The local community is opposed to this development. Councillors of the Liverpool City Council have voted
unanimously against this development (Minutes, Liverpool City Council meeting, 15/6/2011).
5. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the proposed development is incompatible with the
current and planned residential and recreational uses of the area. The proposed concrete processing facility is
just 250 metres from the Georges Fair housing estate, with a high proportion of residents having young families.
The area is zoned E2 Environmental Conservation. It should not be used for a concrete processing plant. In
close proximity are schools, parklands, the Georges River itself, cycleways, a proposed waterside marina, a library
and a golf club. The land is more suitable for recreational facilities or a reserve. Even the owners of the Benedict
Recycling plant at Moorebank (which borders the proposed facility) have accepted that the area is no longer
suitable for a building waste processing plant and have started to shut down their operations to create their own
housing estate and marina.
6. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of increased traffic. The developer states the proposed
facility will result in an extra 324 truck movements a day, which is "very low and will have no impact on the arterial
road network" (developer's information distributed on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club). Increased traffic will
have a significant impact on arterial roads including Nuwarra Road, Newbridge Road and Governor Macquarie
Drive. There is already significant traffic in the area which will be made worse by the `Intermodal', which will cause
an extra 1.5 million truck movements in the first year. Truck movements will primarily be in peak hours, further
impacting on already high congestion. The residents of Moorebank and other areas should not experience any
additional noise, pollution and congestion from this proposed facility, given the likelihood of the `Intermodal'.
7. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the negative impact on land values. Residents of the
Moorebank precinct in particular have spent significant amounts of money on land and homes. The proposed
development will have a severe impact on land values and residents will not be compensated.
8. I oppose the building waste processing plant because there was a lack of community consultation at a meeting
held by representatives of the developers on 31/5/2011. The organisers did not notify a significant number of local
residents and future residents about the meeting. The organisers refused to answer questions from local residents
on health risks. The organisers did not allow time to note down and respond to residents' concerns.
9. I oppose the building waste processing plant because it is dangerous to residents for a concrete processing
plant to be located in this area of metropolitan Sydney. There are pre-existing waste processing plants operated by
Benedict Recycling and Smorgan Steel Recycling at Chipping Norton. Benedict Recycling is planning to build
another plant at Heathcote. There is no need for so many waste processing plants in such close proximity to each
other.

As a local community member, I OPPOSE the building waste processing plant. I call on councillors,
the NSW Parliament, the Minister for Planning, the Planning Assessment Commission, the NSW
Department of Planning and Infrastructure and the Premier of NSW to REJECT this proposal.

I object to this proposal.
I have family who will live here. This is a public outrage.
I watched with disbelief A Current Affairs program this evening.

If so many people oppose this proposal, if a national current affairs program can see this also, why is this on exhibition for possible development in a residential area?
The proposal includes outdated statistics and data, collected before this area had been developed and populated with local residents.
I say NO to this application.

I do not want the recycling plant in Moorebank. Surely there is somewhere which is more suited for the task where an even larger plant could be built.

Dear Planning and Infrastructure, I have lived in the Liverpool region my whole life; I am 24 recently married and have a child on the way. I am extremely concerned about this proposal of a recycling facility virtually in my future backyard, not only do I highly object to this proposal but i condemn it aswell.
I have spent my whole life living in the Liverpool district and it has been a decent place to live, until now. Yes i am young but i have a decent head on my shoulder to know that allowing the construction of a Waste facility to be built only a hundred metres or so from a highly dense residential area is insane.
If this Facility goes ahead it will be the last nail in the woodwork for the area of Liverpool, We are already facing the intermodal only kilometres away from the proposed location.
At time i drive past the already existing Facility and the fumes of Methane gas are already apparent.

This Waste Facility would not only dramatically increase the air pollution and turn the Liverpool area into looking like it was in Beijing or the desert, but it would be the final Killer for the Georges River. I highly doubt I'm the only one objecting to this proposal, if a Waste Facility is desperately needed then place it in an Industrial Zone such as Chipping Norton or Eastern Creek that already have the facilities there.
The area surrounding Georges Fair is only going to become increasingly more dense with residential.

To increase the size of the Waste Facility is diabolical and I, my Wife and my future Family Highly OBJECT to this proposal and condemn it.

to whom is may concern

I wish to express my stong opposition of the development of MP 05_0157, Moorebank Waste Facility proposed for the moorebank area.

As a new resident to georges fair, and a resident which is located within close proximity to the newly built Brickmakers drive, i strongly oppose the development of a new waste recyclers and the addition of 300+ heavy trucks accessing brickmakers drive and making life for myself and my family unbearable.

I live in a culdesac which is less than 15m away from Brickmakers drive. The road is currently inundated with traffic , creating traffic noise from the early morning to the wee hours of the night. The traffic poses a significant risk to the safety of my young children. My 3 small children are unable to access their front yard due to the fear of not only being injured by a reckless driver but also bieng subject to toxic fumes threatening their health and wellbeing. We have trucks compression braking in the early morning and late at night.

With brickmakers drive also having open access to adjoining streets of the georges fair estate there is also a signifincant risk for the safety an welfare of all children within the residential community. currently there is no retaining walls blocking the site or sound of traffic utilising brickmakers drive.

i really fear that the inclusion of further heavy vehicles utilising this road will have a detremental impact on the health, saftey and wellbeing of my family.

the development of a waste receycling facility and the impact it will have on the surrounding residential area will also greatly reduce property values in the area. most residenta in georges fair are hard working families with children. we have purchased here to provide our children with a better quality of life within a quiet community. if i wanted to live an raise my children near an industrial estate and within touching distance of a main road, i would have purchased a property near one and save myself a few 100k. The fact that this site is even being considered so close to a newly developed residential area with young families is absurd.

please dont take advantage of hard working young families just looking to cut a break. please declined this propsal

Today I received my development approval to commence contstruction for my new home on Hoy Street, Moorebank.

As a soon to be resident of Moorebank I would like to stay that i strongly disagree with the application to construct a recycling plant in the area. I believe that this will impact the overall community feeling in the area as well as the traffic surrounding the area. I am also concerned that it may devalue the area immensly.

The proposed materials recycling facility at Moorebank was a surprise to me. HORRIFYING!

When I purchased Lot 4404 in 2012 at Georges Fair from Investa, there was absolutely nothing on their (Georges Fair nor the Investa) website that described a proposed recycling plant capable of 324 (20 tonne) truck movements per day just meters from my street Conlon Avenue. In fact there was nothing on Wisdom Home's website, the company that will be building my home. In fact, there was nothing even on Liverpool City Council's website about a 500,000 tonne recycling facility to be built only 12 months after I move in to my family home, with my husband and young child. What I was told by Jacki Ari, the Land seller employed by Investa, at Georges Fair, was that the Benedict Sand Recycler was to be decommissioned and a Marina was to be built in its place nearby on the Georges River. The interested parties have known all along what would be happening and have duped all the residents.

Why would not one of these bodies informed me and all the other purchasers that this was at least on the cards. You know why, because nobody would have purchased at the price we have. Would you spend close to 1 million dollars to be living near the biggest proposed recycling plant in Sydney? The honest answer must be "No".

Obviously this deal between the Recycler and State Government has been going on for decades.

My objection is described below:

1. Irrespective what the Recycler says: There is NO need for the project. It should be stopped by State Government and Local Government should rally on the support of their rate payers. There are many recycling facilities in Sydney's basin. It does not need another one with such environmental, health, aesthetic drawbacks. The project will employ only a handful of people when it is up and running yet operate 6 days per week in a family residential zoned community, devaluating property values, environmental damaging the Georges River and its flora and fauna, create great risk of injury to residents by the estimated 324 truck runs per day.
2. Visual Impact: It's a monster. Despite the trees. 30 meter high stack piles of bitumen, bricks, road base and other construction material with the real possibility of asbestos fibres. The sand piles currently can be seen from the Elizabeth Drive in Liverpool on the way down from Cowpasture Rd, along Elizabeth Drive heading into Liverpool. They look like icebergs. It's disgusting to know that our children are living here. The asbestos issue will land the Recycler in Court, and they'll get a small fine. But they won't care.
3. Air Quality: Real danger with the unknown particles throughout the air with open roof crushing occurring from 7am-630pm 6 days per week. What will we be breathing and wearing. It needs to be stopped.
4. Noise: The noise when they built the round-about was horrendous on the corner of Brickmakers Drive and Christiansen Boulevard. The dirt, the smell, the trucks. It's only going to magnify 1000 per cent. With 324 truck runs daily. Huge crushers to crunch the construction material into recyclable waste.
5. Traffic and transport is already pretty bad in the Georges fair estate. Brickmakers Drive we thought was built for the residents, only to find out now it was built for the trucks to access the recycling site. Residents have Brickmakers Drive or Maddocks Rd to exit onto Newbridge or Nuwarra Road respectively. Half the houses are not even constructed as yet. The problem will become exponential once the recycling facility begins. The Brickmakers drive and the trucks will be considered a place of work for the Recycler endangering the residents with accidents. Claims will be made against the recycler. I want Brickmakers Drive closed for heavy truck vehicles. It should not be permissible to be a place of work for the Recycler.

You must understand, I would not have purchased and built in the Georges Fair estate if I had known that the Moorebank Recycler was even a chance of operating. I was advised by Jacki Ari, the Benedict Sand Yard would be decommissioned and a Marina built in its place, elevating the property value, making it a beautiful place to raise a young family so close to the heart of Liverpool.

It is a disgrace that we have all been deceived!

Say "No" to the Moorebank Recycling Facility. Stop it being built for the objections I've raised.

We are about to build in georges fair and i do not see how anyone can allow a new industrial site to be built

a in a residential area

b right on the banks of a lovely river where which we also use for watersports on the weekends

You must have rocks in your head... Why not sell the land to be re zoned so we at georges fair will maybe have a cafe precint to go and sit by the water, have coffee and put our money back into the community.

Also provide more parks on it so our children can play and be safe away from the masses of trucks that hoon through the area.

If a child dies from a truck accident in the area the blood is on your hands who ever approves this.

I oppose the building processing plan because
- too close to existing and proposed residential homes
- health risks from asbestos and toxins which is unacceptable for local residents
-potential of major flooding to the area as the material stockpiles may cause an enviromental disaster throughout Moorebank and the entire Georges River Basin
- it is incompatible with the current and planned area for residential and recreational. The area is zoned E2 Environmental Conservation where it should not be used for a concrete processing plant. The development project is in close proximity to schools, parklands, the Georges River itself, cycleways, a proposed water marina, a library and a golf club.
- increase in traffic as stated by developer that the proposed facility will result in an extra 324 truck movements a day. To whom it may concern,

We are a family of 4 people going to live in Georges Fair Moorebank. When we first drove to Georges Fair, we were very impressed with such a beautiful place with lots of new dwellings, nice roads and lovely parks. We want this house to be as a dream house in a peaceful environment, the best place for our parent's retirement.
After one year of hard-working to make all this happened, we came to know that Moorebank Recycling plant is proposed to be built near our place. This recycling plant will certainly destroy our dream. The plant would be located east of Georges Fair on land on the Georges River Bank, which has a capacity to receive and process 500,000 tonnes per year of waste products including asbestos, concrete, brick, asphalt, sandstone, sand and 324 heavy truck movements daily are extremely TERRIFIC.
Our first consideration is about the terrible and polluted atmosphere that could be created once this Plant is approved. The pollution can be either in the form of chemical substances that influence the water or flying dust generated from the recycling plant will dramatically affect the air which causing discomfort, disease, or death to humans, damage other living organisms such as plants and trees around the area. Noise pollution also needs to be taken into account. We spent more than 8 hours at works and travelling. Home is a great place to rest and release all stress. Considering the fact that the Recyclers run 6 days a week from 7 AM to 6:30 PM, this could be the biggest interfering problem to our relaxation.
Heavy traffic is another problem. The Brickmakers Drive was built for residents from Georges Fair onto Newbridge Road and Governor Macquarie Drive. There are still a lot of houses waiting for construction. This means there will be a lot more people living in this area. However, if the Proposal is approved, this route would be misused by 324 trucks every day to access recycling site and will certainly cause bad traffic. Parents are late to work, and children are late to school. Long traffic and smoke released from exhaust also enhance to the bad atmosphere.
Last but not least, the devaluation of every resident's property is also a problem that we would like to mention. How many houses are built in Georges' Fair? This could be more than a thousand. Millions of dollars could be spent in each house. House is not supposed to be depreciated like car. This is absolutely unfair to us when our money is gone for the Moorebank Recyclers' benefits.
We think the Local and State Government need to take action to stop the project. This is really a big problem that harms thousands of citizens in Georges Fair and surrounding areas. The recycling plant must be relocated to somewhere which is not close to residential zone.

Sincerely Yours

Christopher Sharpe

Hi,

My wife and I are currently in the process of having a house built next to this proposed Recycling Facility at Lot 4250, Hoy St, Moorebank NSW, which is located in the Georges Fair estate.

We object to the building of the recycling plant at this location as it will affect current infrastructure, such as the congestion of traffic located on Newbridge Road, Nuwarra Road and Brickmakers Drive. With the current state of the traffic & roads it will make it worse, not to mention the additional Intermodal Terminal Warehouse(s) that will be built further down the road at Moorebank.

The building of the recycling plant will reduce the value of our land and house if it is completed which will affect us in the long term along with everyone else that has purchased any land or houses in the surrounding area(s).

Georges Fair, Moorebank is a brand new estate with a lot of new families moving in to start a new life and have children. With the addition of the industrial sized recycling plant, it could have: 1. Air Pollution 2: Noise pollution 3: Dust particles; which could cause a negative effect of health conditions in the long term.

We beg to you to not go ahead with this project and to relocate it else where - most likely in a remote or industrial area which would not effect the living of the residential area of Moorebank NSW and surrounding areas.

We hope you reconsider.

Thank you.

We moved to this area for the peace and quite suddenly we find out that we are going to share the road with almost 350 trucks per day between coming in and leaving the plant which come to 1 truck every 1 minute and half. As now we have to wait for a considerable time to get out of the area how about after I have to share the road with trucks which their driver eager to get to the next pick up job. How about the pollution (dust, noise....). The value of our home will be reduced dramatically. So it a lose lose deal .
