We are opposed to this proposal based on the following grounds:
1. We are worried about the smell and sound this recycling plant will create once fully operational. This plant is next to a residential area. It is best to relocate this plant in an industrial site or a remote area.
2. The development of Georges Fair Estates was aimed to promote a peaceful and great family friendly environment. This recycling plant is contradictory to this aim. It is like building a brothel next to a primary school.
We trust that you listen to the voice of the people.

We are building our new house at Georges Fair, and we strongly object to this proposal of Moorebank Waste Facility, for the following reasons:
1. Firstly, Safety - there will be hundreds of trucks travelling through Brickmakers Drive daily. This would be very dangerous, noisy, and polluted. Brickmakers Drive is a new street, with only one narrow lane in each direction. If many trucks travel through this street (the proposal shows hundreds of trucks daily), this street will soon be destructed. Residents at Georges Fair are mostly family with kids. It will not be safe at all for parents taking kids out for a walk with trucks fast-travelling around. Statistics shows that truck drivers are not the most careful drivers in the world. The NSW Roads and Maritime Services would not grant its concurrence to the proposed development having its ingress and egress from/to Newbridge Road, so why should Brickmakers Drive be granted? Investa at Georges Fair clearly stated that Brickmakers Drive is never supposed to support heavy vehicles.
2. Secondly, Noise - noise coming from the Site and from trucks will be uttermost terrible. There are already complaints about how noisy it is at this current state. I can't imagine how it would turn out if this Site is built here. Especially operation hours is from 7am to 6pm daily, even on Saturday. This is basically noisy for the whole day, because not everyone is working, some of us are staying-home parents to look after babies.
3. Thirdly, Traffic - trucks will be operating from 7am till 6pm, which means peak hours are included. Noone would want to travel with heavy trucks around during peak hours. That would be an absolute nightmare.
4. Fourthly, Air pollution - there are assessment as in the proposal, however, everything is just purely "predicted" with not very strong back-up evidence. I believe having this Site in the middle of a new community with young residents (i.e., kids) will increase the level of air pollution, and will severely affect health.
There are a lot more reasons for us to object to this proposal. We absolutely don't want our dream home at Georges Fair becomes a disaster.

Hello,
I have just recieved a letter from Liverpool City Council about this proposal of the construction materials Recycling Plant located off the Newbridge Rd with also proposal of Heavy Vehicles using Brickmakers Dr as access to the Site.
I appreciate that i have been sent a letter of the disclosed information, I however do not approve of the Recycling plant especially of this sort being proposed only fifty metres or so from my future residence.
I am disgusted that the owner can even think to propose a recycling plant so close to a residential area, if i wanted to have Heavy vehicle and construction material such as concrete and asbesto grinded up so close to my home i would of placed one in my backyard where i am currently living.
I am 6 months pregnant with my first, my husband and I are currently working our behinds off too pay for this Dream Home of ours only to be told that our backyard and house will be full of fumes from crushed up rock and crap that no one wants.
As for the proposed access for heavy vehicle to use brickmaker Dr, i was recently entering the road from a roundabout near Newbridge road where i was almost completely taking out by a speeding Semi-trailer, the noise is unbearable, the smell is wretched. I come from a long line of Construction workers, Builders and my father has instructed me to sell this block of the land if this proposal was to go ahead because even he knows that these sort of recycling plant emit fumes that are toxic for any humans hence the reason why the workers that work at these plants wear PPE gear to protect them from these sort of situations.
Once again if this proposal was to go ahead, it would be a disaster for the area not only for Georges Fair residence by also in Moorebank etc.
Also i have been told that this sort of proposal so close to a river will be Catastrophic for the area as the run off and sediment into the George River will cause massive damages, you only have to look at the water surrounding the quarries and the smell coming off it as you drive down Brickmakers Dr is Putrid.
I, However do support the Marina that is being proposed but i guess that won't make it this far.

OPPOSITION TO MOOREBANK BUILDING WASTE PROCESSING PLANT
I oppose the proposed Moorebank Waste Processing Project (Project Number 05 0157) at Lot 6 DP 1065574, Newbridge Road, Moorebank.
1. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the proposed development is far too close to existing and proposed residential homes. The proposed development is just 250 metres from the Georges Fair housing estate. Trucks using the proposed facility will travel even closer to residential homes. Trucks will likely short cut through Georges Fair, passing parks and local residents, using roads not designed for massive trucks.
2. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the risks from asbestos and toxins. At the community consultation meeting held on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club, the representatives of the developer refused to comment on whether asbestos would be processed at the facility and whether toxins would be released. There is a link between silica dust and lung cancer (`Occupational Exposure to Silica and Lung Cancer', Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention Journal, Volume 19, 2010). There is no known cure for silicosis (`A Brief Review of Silicosis in the US', Environ Health Insights, Volume 4, East Carolina University, 2010). The developer plans to install sweepers "where trucks and people will travel" and that there are "unsealed areas" in the development. Their own documentation refers to "likely dust from the recycling facility" (pg 3, developer's information distributed on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club). This is an unacceptable health risk for local residents.
3. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the potential for flooding. The proposed development is in an area that floods. In the event of a flood, unsafe building materials and material stockpiles may cause an environmental disaster throughout Moorebank and the entire Georges River Basin.
4. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the NSW Government has indicated there will be "a return of local planning powers to local communities" (`NSW govt scraps 3A planning provision', SMH, 4/4/2011). The local community is opposed to this development. Councillors of the Liverpool City Council have voted unanimously against this development (Minutes, Liverpool City Council meeting, 15/6/2011).
5. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the proposed development is incompatible with the current and planned residential and recreational uses of the area. The proposed concrete processing facility is just 250 metres from the Georges Fair housing estate, with a high proportion of residents having young families. The area is zoned E2 Environmental Conservation. It should not be used for a concrete processing plant. In close proximity are schools, parklands, the Georges River itself, cycleways, a proposed waterside marina, a library and a golf club. The land is more suitable for recreational facilities or a reserve. Even the owners of the Benedict Recycling plant at Moorebank (which borders the proposed facility) have accepted that the area is no longer suitable for a building waste processing plant and have started to shut down their operations to create their own housing estate and marina.
6. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of increased traffic. The developer states the proposed facility will result in an extra 324 truck movements a day, which is "very low and will have no impact on the arterial road network" (developer's information distributed on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club). Increased traffic will have a significant impact on arterial roads including Nuwarra Road, Newbridge Road and Governor Macquarie Drive. There is already significant traffic in the area which will be made worse by the `Intermodal', which will cause an extra 1.5 million truck movements in the first year. Truck movements will primarily be in peak hours, further impacting on already high congestion. The residents of Moorebank and other areas should not experience any additional noise, pollution and congestion from this proposed facility, given the likelihood of the `Intermodal'.
7. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the negative impact on land values. Residents of the Moorebank precinct in particular have spent significant amounts of money on land and homes. The proposed development will have a severe impact on land values and residents will not be compensated.
8. I oppose the building waste processing plant because there was a lack of community consultation at a meeting held by representatives of the developers on 31/5/2011. The organisers did not notify a significant number of local residents and future residents about the meeting. The organisers refused to answer questions from local residents on health risks. The organisers did not allow time to note down and respond to residents' concerns.
9. I oppose the building waste processing plant because it is dangerous to residents for a concrete processing plant to be located in this area of metropolitan Sydney. There are pre-existing waste processing plants operated by Benedict Recycling and Smorgan Steel Recycling at Chipping Norton. Benedict Recycling is planning to build another plant at Heathcote. There is no need for so many waste processing plants in such close proximity to each other.
As a local community member, I OPPOSE the building waste processing plant. I call on councillors, the NSW Parliament, the Minister for Planning, the Planning Assessment Commission, the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure and the Premier of NSW to REJECT this proposal.

To Whom It May Concern,
RE: Proposed Materials Recycling Facility - Moorebank (05_0157)
I am writing to object to the proposed facility at Lot 6 Newbridge Road, Moorebank.
This proposed development will have negative effects on the environment in particular the Georges River, the surrounding communities and the residents of Liverpool. The suburb of Moorebank is moving away from its industrial roots and turning into a residential and recreational precinct. This development in the heart of Moorebank will rip Moorebank back to its industrial past.
The facility was proposed when it was still surrounded by a quarry and a sand extraction site over 7 years ago. The quarry has been replaced by a new residential estate populated by young families. The sand extraction site is proposing to be replaced by a marina and recreational lands. This facility is a proposal from the past, and should not be a plan for the future.
This facility is being sold as a waste recycling facility but it is nothing more than a concrete crushing plant. This concrete processing plant will cause over 300 trucks a day, six days a week to travel through a residential and recreational precinct covering the area with concrete dust. This facility has no way of differentiating safe waste materials like concrete, bitumen and tiles from unsafe waste materials like asbestos, silica, PCB or lead based compounds. This concrete processing plant will cover the area in inorganic dust, not just in the vicinity of the plant but throughout the suburb as these trucks travel to and from the processing plant.
The extra traffic generated from this facility will need to travel through residential areas and school zones. Brickmakers Drive, a residential road will be the only way for the trucks to enter and exit the facility. Newbridge and Nuwarra Road are already becoming congested, and now the residents of Georges Fair will be gridlocked by trucks entering this facility six days a week.
This facility will not only generate noise six days a week, but trucks travelling to and from the facility through residential areas will add to the noise generated by this facility.
This facility will sit on the banks of the Georges River in the middle of the flood liable land. The facility will attempt to ensure that there is no effect to flooding but it will have adverse effects to water quality and soil degradation along the Georges River. The Southern Sydney Catchment Blueprint, a NSW government strategic action plan, aims to improve the catchments of southern Sydney which directly conflicts with this planned facility. Allowing this facility on the banks of the Georges River can only lead to an ecological catastrophe.
This facility should not be allowed to go ahead. It is opposed by residents and the Liverpool council, it is a poor and ill conceived plan and it should be a part of Moorebank's future.

I totally object to the development of the site as it is far to close to the residential GEORGES FAIR estate it no longer the BORAL QUARRY site as they refer to in the application it is now home to many young families with children and putting a recycling planr so close to residential areas can only have health risks. The dust generated from the site which they will no be able to control effectively no matter what the studies say they cannot predict sudden adverse weather changes and the dust can contain silica which is a carcinogenic particle.
Apart from that the movement of heavy machinery and trucks during the operating hours will cause exhaust pollution and excessive noise being so close to the residential areas.
I totally and wholly reject the development please consider the health and safety issues before you make a decision on this development.
Thank you

8. I oppose the building waste processing plant because there was a lack of community consultation at a meeting
held by representatives of the developers on 31/5/2011. The organisers did not notify a significant number of local
residents and future residents about the meeting. The organisers refused to answer questions from local residents
on health risks. The organisers did not allow time to note down and respond to residents' concerns.
9. I oppose the building waste processing plant because it is dangerous to residents for a concrete processing
plant to be located in this area of metropolitan Sydney. There are pre-existing waste processing plants operated by
Benedict Recycling and Smorgan Steel Recycling at Chipping Norton. Benedict Recycling is planning to build
another plant at Heathcote. There is no need for so many waste processing plants in such close proximity to each
other.
As a local community member, I OPPOSE the building waste processing plant. I call on councillors,
the NSW Parliament, the Minister for Planning, the Planning Assessment Commission, the NSW
Department of Planning and Infrastructure and the Premier of NSW to REJECT this proposal.

Dear Sir/Madam
I oppose the facility for the following reasons
Air quality- As of now based on the letter that I received, everything is within limits. What if this goes above the limits, the plant would not then be closed down.
So then I am stuck in that locality with that plant as my neighbour.
Noise- As of now Brickmakers drive is flooded with trucks. 1000 vehicles at night time. How could this be classifed as neglible impact. Just imagining a truck going in the night at 60-70 km per hour on that road.
Close to existing homes,
Safety for Kids- Trucks flying past brickmakers drive and what makes it so sure that they will not use the roads in the estate .
My property value is going to fall down for sure and nobody would ever be interested in buying my property if ever i wanted to sell it.

As the Moorebank area closed to the recycling plant is a family friendly area, I believe the proposed plant will be a disaster for this area.
The 324 trucks movement a day will create more air & noise pollution. The surrounding area also has 6 schools which means there are a lot of children playing & walking outside. This is not good for their health & growth. Here I attach the 9 points of reasons of my objection towards the building of the plant.
Thank you.

Last year was a very special year for my wife and I, we bought a block of land that would be the foundation of our Dream Family Home and we were expecting our first child, life was beautiful and filled with excitement.
Fast forward one year, the Dream Home is now looking like the Home from Hell! I am now weeks away before my slab goes down and I have learnt that the Proposal for the large Recycling plant is back on, Oh you have got to be kidding!
Prior to purchasing my block of land I conducted a bit of research and found the earlier proposal from Moorebank Recyclers, I was encouraged when I learnt that it was not going to get off the ground, according to council.... Image my excitement about Benedicts Proposal of a Marina surrounded by bike paths, restaurants and other inviting facilities, yep the place I want to bring up a young family.
Nowadays I am not so sure with the threat of noise pollution, heavy vehicle traffic, and health risks to my family and neighbours. Please listen to the people of Moorebank and the 1100 odd families who have bought the great Aussie dream in Georges Fair. We are not talking about 10, 20 or 50 homes, it is a whole community here.
To those on the committee who make a decision, make the moral decision and one that is your Duty of Care to the community of Georges Fair and the hundreds of children, DECLINE this proposal, keep these facilities in industrial areas away from the suburbs! If you do not how in hell could this estate be built in the first place.
I am sure I speak for all my neoghbours, if I was to attempt to sell, I would have to take a significant loss on the home and no doubt this would set my family back 10 years! What do I tell me family then?
Make the right decision here, NO TO THE MOOREBANK RECYCLERS PROPOSAL.

I STRONGLY OPPOSED with the recycling plant to build so close to residential area. Moorebank has now grown up become residential area for family and with number of people buying / moving / living in there as family, building recycling plant around it will cost not only health issue but also environmental damage for family living area.

1. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the proposed development is far too close to existing
and proposed residential homes. The proposed development is just 250 metres from the Georges Fair housing
estate. Trucks using the proposed facility will travel even closer to residential homes. Trucks will likely short cut
through Georges Fair, passing parks and local residents, using roads not designed for massive trucks.
2. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the risks from asbestos and toxins. At the community
consultation meeting held on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club, the representatives of the developer refused to
comment on whether asbestos would be processed at the facility and whether toxins would be released. There is
a link between silica dust and lung cancer (`Occupational Exposure to Silica and Lung Cancer', Cancer
Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention Journal, Volume 19, 2010). There is no known cure for silicosis (`A
Brief Review of Silicosis in the US', Environ Health Insights, Volume 4, East Carolina University, 2010). The
developer plans to install sweepers "where trucks and people will travel" and that there are "unsealed areas" in the
development. Their own documentation refers to "likely dust from the recycling facility" (pg 3, developer's
information distributed on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club). This is an unacceptable health risk for local
residents.
3. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the potential for flooding. The proposed development
is in an area that floods. In the event of a flood, unsafe building materials and material stockpiles may cause an
environmental disaster throughout Moorebank and the entire Georges River Basin.
4. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the NSW Government has indicated there will be "a
return of local planning powers to local communities" (`NSW govt scraps 3A planning provision', SMH, 4/4/2011).
The local community is opposed to this development. Councillors of the Liverpool City Council have voted
unanimously against this development (Minutes, Liverpool City Council meeting, 15/6/2011).
5. I oppose the building waste processing plant because the proposed development is incompatible with the
current and planned residential and recreational uses of the area. The proposed concrete processing facility is
just 250 metres from the Georges Fair housing estate, with a high proportion of residents having young families.
The area is zoned E2 Environmental Conservation. It should not be used for a concrete processing plant. In
close proximity are schools, parklands, the Georges River itself, cycleways, a proposed waterside marina, a library
and a golf club. The land is more suitable for recreational facilities or a reserve. Even the owners of the Benedict
Recycling plant at Moorebank (which borders the proposed facility) have accepted that the area is no longer
suitable for a building waste processing plant and have started to shut down their operations to create their own
housing estate and marina.
6. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of increased traffic. The developer states the proposed
facility will result in an extra 324 truck movements a day, which is "very low and will have no impact on the arterial
road network" (developer's information distributed on 31/5/2011 at New Brighton Golf Club). Increased traffic will
have a significant impact on arterial roads including Nuwarra Road, Newbridge Road and Governor Macquarie
Drive. There is already significant traffic in the area which will be made worse by the `Intermodal', which will cause
an extra 1.5 million truck movements in the first year. Truck movements will primarily be in peak hours, further
impacting on already high congestion. The residents of Moorebank and other areas should not experience any
additional noise, pollution and congestion from this proposed facility, given the likelihood of the `Intermodal'.
7. I oppose the building waste processing plant because of the negative impact on land values. Residents of the
Moorebank precinct in particular have spent significant amounts of money on land and homes. The proposed
development will have a severe impact on land values and residents will not be compensated.

I strongly disagree to have materials recycling facility to build in Moorebank. These following would involve :
1. Noise - Traffic volume increase which is cause more dust and noise to our Georges Fair environment.
2. Unpleasant smell and non friendly environment
Recycle materials cause strange smell and lots people think our house are build next recycle industry which is cause house prices drop significantly. We are spending lots of money to build our brand new house here with a hope that would be beautiful and peaceful place for our family and children.
I believe new Georges Fair residents and existing existing are thinking the same.
I hope Liverpool council would be able do something to make our environment looks clean, fresh and peaceful.
your faithfully,
Georges Fair Resident
