Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

I work in the mining industry in the hunter valley area. MTW is a major condributor in mining in the valley as well as putting alot back into the local community. This extention is important as it keeps alot of people in jobs locally and keeps local economy going strong.
I have read/seen MTW is doing alot of dust and noise continuation to keep the local environment safe that is another good reason to support the extention knowing MTW is looking after environment as much as possible while minning.

I support the Warkworth Continuation Expansion Proposal for the extension of the mine's life over a further 21 years for the following reasons as listed :

1. The protection of "One Thousand Three Hundred" direct jobs at Warkworth.

2.The continued "future growth" maintaining thousands of jobs for contractors and suppliers in the Hunter Region.

3. The sustainable impact over such a time period on outlets from within Australia and overseas re. profound network of infrastructure that goes into the maintenance of a mine : ""Flow Chart"' production of a Komatsu part from creation until instillation....jobs;jobs;jobs over 21 years.

4.The sustainability of flow on growth re. townships throughout the Hunter especially Singleton's 35% input.

5. The sustainability of returns to the State through Royalties and Taxes.

6.The sustainability of Federal Tax Revenue.

7. The sustainability of major engineering works across the Hunter Region.

8. The support of Local Government and enterprises such as Schools etc.

9.The safeguard of such resources as Hospitals, Police force, Ambulance, Banks etc. form "Powers" that might utilize them elsewhere.

10. The prevention of an exodus of populace seeking work elsewhere resulting in the removal of all employment opportunities across the Hunter Region- shop assistants, hairdressers, nurses, teachers, doctors etc.

11.In summary : the "Monetary/Fiscal Dome" created by Warkworth Mine over Twenty one years would sustain all the above and the ability of x number of individuals to raise, and educate a 'generation" of children (to University standard if so wished) adding strength to "Civilization" as we know it.

Mt Thorley Warkworth mine is an important part of the Hunter community. A lot of families rely on the jobs provided by this mine. Not only do families benefit from continuing to have this mine open, but also local businesses, home owners and the greater community.

If this mine was to shut down and not have extensions approved then the Hunter community will be severely impacted. Business will lose profits, owners of properties that are being rented will have empty houses, families will have no where to turn without an income. This effects the whole community.

Mt Thorley Warkworth has provided a lot of individuals and families great opportunities and a future. A lot of people have been able to gain even further skills and knowledge. This would not exist if this mine shut down and was not approved.

Both my husband and I work at Mount thorley Warkworth, we have a mortgage to pay and being young looking forward to starting a family which to have job security would mean a world of stress lifted from us.

We have live here all our lives and worked hard to be in the job roles we are today, this means the world to us to have our jobs for the future.

My monthly energy costs are the third highest in the United States here in Connecticut... Because of the capitulation of our coal mines. I now have to choose between health insurance and heat. Enough is enough, we need coal, we need to support or communities on the most local level, so if there is demand for coal, for pure energy, we should be unabashed in approving this for the clearly vast majority of people, for the well being of our nation and our cities, our towns, our townships and villages. Keep the coal mines open, keep the light of hope, now dimmed from by this hostile shutdown of our great natural reaources, keep that light burning, regardless of the tryanny of the Minority.

I support the Warkworth Continuation Project.
This Project will, in my opinion, effectively mitigate any impacts and it is imperative that it be approved given that the local and broader economy is heavily dependent upon the employment by the proponent.

I support Coal. Coal supports my family. I feel that coal is a natural recourse that the USA has that should be a secure job. Our Government is putting so many regulations on mining that is just Ludacris and these Federal Inspectors who are enforcing these rules are writing them selves out of a job. Coal is our source of power but can also be converted into fuel as well. That would be great for the American people, as high as gasoline is at the current time. Please take into consideration the families you are effecting when you do this, please think about our country and it being independent, please think about how long it would take to get solar energy and the expense it would be on all Americans. Please think about our Independence from other countries. We do not need to be dependent on getting our energy from another country. Thank you for reading. Joleena Spence

The continuation of the Mount Thorley Warkworth operation at their current production is vital to the Hunter Region and the communities that reside within it. As a community member I have seen the decline in the prosperity of the region and the act of dismantling a successful operation which supports and employs a large amount of the local community is ludicrous.

The continuation of the Warkworth Mine is vital for the contined viability of the operation which is a significant contributor to local employment and the local economy of the Singleton Shire, as well as more broadly for the State of NSW and beyond. The Warkworth Mine has been in operation for over 30 years and the continuation proposal is situated inside a long established mining lease. The proposal is not for a new mining development and the government should support the continuation of existing mining operations.

The entire economy of the Hunter Valley and Newcastle region is supported by coal mines such as MTW.

Without the continued support and approvals of these mines, towns such as Singleton, Muswellbrook and Cessnock will suffer greatly in the short term and Newcastle in general in the longer term.
