HVO North Open Cut Coal Continuation Project

Mining is the Hunter, without it we stop. Without HVO, many others and I could not provide for our families. It must go on.

I support the HVO North Open Cut Continuation Project as this is vital to the local and national economy, supporting jobs and indeed life itself. The continuation project will provide financial security for my family and thousands of others, throughout not only the Hunter Valley and NSW but other Australian States and Territories as well.

I am a subcontractor at HVO I would like to keep the HVO mine open as it supports me and my family and the community. If the mine were to shut, it would not only impact me and my family but other small businesses around the area like coffee shops in gyms. So if the mine was shut, it would be a big impact on the community so I think that extension is a good thing

I support this project for the stability of employment it bring to the area, the community help and support to local foundations and charities it brings.

Coal mining supports my household my family and our future!

HVO is an important workplace in the hunter valley. It provides direct jobs for 1500+ people, while providing further non-direct jobs for 4500+ people. As an apprentice of this workplace, I receive training which I would not receive in other industries. HVO prides themselves on giving back to the local community. Personally, I have participated in many community events such as donating toys to less fortunate families during Christmas, rebuilding community gardens and delivering donations to rural communities. The Hunter Valley economy will fall if HVO doesn't get an extension. All surrounding LGA's which benefit from, and house employees will lose important citizens in our community. HVO always ensures they look after the environment through our rehabilitation processes. HVO is a workplace which prides themselves on safety and ensured everyone goes home safely. I support the extension of HVO North.

As a contracted tradesman, my business is 90% coal related, weather employed directly or indirectly to mines in the hunter valley. These mines are a important part of me providing a positive life for my young family. With HVO I'm actually employed as a contractor at the moment re building trucks. I'm very much in support of the expansion as this would give my family and I the support and stabilty to look confidently into the future

I fully support the continuation of HVO North as the local community benefits as well as the state government.
We need coal to survive.

I am in full support for this project. It will provide great benefits to the local community and provide employment for thouasands of people directly and indirectlyin the greater hunter region.

• This not a new mine. We’ve been mining here for 70 years.
• There’ll be little change to the scale or intensity of mining and no increase to approved annual production rates.
• We will continue to effectively manage community impacts.
• Continuing up to 1500 local jobs and support for local businesses that we buy goods and services from.
• Continuing taxes and mining royalties to support schools, hospitals and roads as well as pay for teachers, nurses and Police.
• Continuing local charity and community support through our Workplace Giving, sponsorship and community grants program.

HVO boosts the economy of the surrounding suburbs by providing donations as well as employment of many individuals. Without this, many jobs will be lost, and the economy will be on a big downturn with many people suffering. The continuation project will continue to support the economy and is very much needed.

I support the continuation of HVO North Open cut. I believe the economic valve it brings to the local community and to the state will be very beneficial for many years to come. Coal has a very important role to play during the transition to renewables.

I support this continuation project because it will support me and my family but also will support the local are and help to grow the economy in the huntervalley. Projects like this are vital to keeping this area economically healthy for the future.

Continuing mining at Hvo will secure my family’s future in the Hunter valley. Having moved to the Hunter to work in the mines would be sad to leave and having to relocate for work. I always spend local and support local businesses.

I live locally and work at Hvo if this extension doesn’t go through I will be without work which also means I have to move my whole family which there would be a lot of people like myself in the same boat.
That can’t be good for the local community if hundreds of family’s relocate because of losing their jobs.
Hvo provides so much already for the local community and this would benefit everyone

Moving to NSW five years ago with my family at 42 years of age I found it hard to get work even with 20 years experience in chemical manufacturing. I managed to get work with HVO that retrained me and started my new career in mining. I’m now back at HVO since the announcement of mt Arthur mine. Now facing 50 the closure of this site almost certainly end my working life. During the last recession in Australia 60% of 50 and over never worked again. This is more than mining.

I support HVO because it provides a life for me and my family. It has allowed me to purchase a house and give me a wonderful life that I wouldn’t have without working here.

Expanding the mines life Is great for our local business and the hundreds of people that work there.

I am in support of this purposal, with alot of mines closing in the near future and the fact mining is a huge support to local businesses and the economy in the Hunter region, it is vital we keep the ones that have the life running, considering the amount of job loss we are already looking at due to site closure, we will lose alot of people from here already and the effects on surrounding towns will be huge due to their contributions.

I agree with this continuation project.
This mine is heavily invested within my community supporting good causes and will continue to do so.
For the past several years this mine has supported me and I’m very hopeful it can support me and my future family for a long time to come. I’m thankful for every opportunity HVO has given me looking forward to my future here.
