HVO has provided employment to myself and family for over 40 years. There is millions of tons of coal that can be accessed without disturbing virgin land. The mine is a positive contributor to the Singleton and Hunter Valley area. The company and employees are environmentally conscious. The mine supports many families and organisations in the local area and further away.

I support HVO it is more than a work place it provides comfort too me that I can support my house mortgage and support my partner, I don't want to be forced to work away from home and risk potential separation from my partner and also not being able to see her everyday. I support HVO because community's and towns are dependent on the site being open whether it is supporting local schools or being the sole reason towns operate, the removal of HVO would be a major hit to the Hunter Valley there will be too much unemployment for the guys on site and workshops throughout Hunter Valley that supply for the mine site resulting in other businesses failing because people can't purchase things from local businesses, I am also worried about the mental health and family breakups from the result of not continuing HVO I feel like their will be a rise suicide amongst men and women in the Hunter Valley. Thank you for reading what I had to say.

Having worked at the mine for more than twenty years, I my family and my local community has had great benefit from my employment. I hope that there is another twenty plus years for the young families employed to have the same as I have had.

I fully support the project, HVO has been a great asset for the hunter and particularly my hometown of singleton. I currently live in singleton and feel HVO is part of why the community is such great place to live and raise a family. the continuation project being approved will be an integral part of keeping the community thriving, HVO provides sound financial stability to the region at a time and in an industry that is not so stable, I feel if it is not approved would cause for financial hardship for the region.

This business provides the following for Australia, NSW, and more specifically the Hunter Valley :
- over 1500 local and surrounding jobs for tradespeople, apprentices, managers, and contractors
- coal/electricity/power/energy for our nations economy that is CRUCIAL for our country’s financial development, especially after COVID 19
- taxes and royalties that support local schools, hospitals, roads, as well as contributing to the wages for teachers, police persons, nurses, etc.
- continuing to support local charities and community projects, through HVO apprenticeship community days (e.g. building/maintaining community gardens/parks, or building outside play-areas for primary schools)

I feel the HVO south proposal is in the best interests of the local community especially regarding the proposed Lemington Rd relocation and new access bridge. Also the local communities and businesses will have ongoing support and security, and would be heavily impacted economically if the HVO was to cease operations.

My main reason is I am employed at the site. Times are tough and life is difficult with the cost of living, rising. The loss of this employment would mean many would be without meaningful employment at the same time.. and it would mean many would move away and many would be without work at the same time.. whether they are in the mining industry or not, throughout the Hunter.

I grew up in the Upper Hunter as part of a mining family. I saw the benefits of mining in supporting the local community in which i grew up through the utilization of other support businesses, direct donations and the creation of jobs.

I have worked in the mining industry for the last 13 years, with the last 5 of these years at HVO. My husband and i live in the local community and our children attend school, participate in sport and extra curricular activities and we all attend community events. All of these things are supported by mining. HVO as the largest single operation in the area provides a huge amount of support to the local community through local spending, donations and employment. With a long mine life, HVO can continue to provide this support to the local area and provide long term , stable employment for a large number of people directly or through contractors and suppliers.

Without the support of mining and in particular HVO, services, funding and opportunity greatly diminishes within the Singleton LGA and neighboring communities.
