The extension of the mine will provide my family stability in our lives, it will provide income for thousands that are employed by HVO and help support up to 1500 local jobs and support local businesses that we spend our money on.

I support this project, I believe the continued operation of HVO would bring great benefit to the local community including jobs and support to local suppliers and business.
I believe not approving this project would be detrimental to the local and broader community.

This project is a continuation of a long history of mining at Hunter Valley. It will provide jobs for 1500 people who work and live in the local community. There is still a still for coal as the transition to net zero occurs and this project aligns with that. If the coal is not mined here we will be exporting jobs overseas to places like Indonesia where the coal will still be mined.

Mining is the life blood of our region and contributes significantly to the success of the people living in the local communities and to the economic benefit of the entire state. In 2021 HVO economic benefit to the region was in excess of $862 million. Whilst economically it makes sense to support, it's the involvement in the region's development through sport and cultural support is one not matched by any other industry and provides a means for the society to be engaged and grow our regions.

At each touch point of this mine with the region, there is benefit to the local and state communities and should be approved.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I wish to lodge this submission in the support of the HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project.
I am a lifetime resident of the Singleton/Hunter Valley community, and work in the Mining industry.
I have personally experienced the economic contribution and support that HVO has made to the community since it started, which is >40 years, and the many businesses and families have prospered from this economic activity in both Singleton and the greater Hunter Valley. In 2021 HVO's direct economic contribution was $862 million.
If approved, HVO will be able to continue to:
- provide around 1500 ongoing local jobs plus 600 temporary jobs constructing infrastructure upgrades
- support businesses and suppliers - HVO spends around $500 million annually with more than 700 suppliers, many of them local
- pay taxes, royalties and other payments to governments to support infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and roads, as well as pay for teachers, nurses and Police
- support charities and community projects through its community grants, charity support, sponsorship and workplace giving programs.
HVO is not a new mine, and there is little change to the scale or intensity of mining and no increase to approved annual production rates. The world economy will require existing energy sources while it transitions to a lower emissions economy, with strong demand in the short to medium term for high quality coal.

I support this project. Australia needs to continue to support mining - it is the backbone of the economy and supports individuals, businesses and government.
- It is not a new mine - just an extension
- There will be little change to the scale / intensity of mining
- Direct economic contribution (2021) was $862 million

HVO's extension not only can boost NSW's economy but also can help small local businesses like ours to survive.
Our team has dealt with HV Operations, and we have always noticed the high focus the HVO group has on Safety and Environmental compliance. We highly support this project since we know a professional group of people will operate who always take extra steps to exercise due diligence.

The HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project is vital for the economic benefits for the Hunter Valley Region and personally for our family with my husband employed with HVO.
In Australia, coal is still one of the most affordable and reliable sources of energy and high quality coking coal is integral for the manufacture of products such as steel.
Open Cut mining is far safer and more cost effective than underground mining and provides less future issues once the mining has been completed in relation to re-use of land and ground subsidence.
Overall I support the extension project for HVO so long as the approved environmental and regeneration plans are adhered to, to ensure that the land is able to be used after mining is completed in the area.

I object to both opening new coal mines and extending existing coal mines as in this case of the HVO Open Cut coal mine continuation, on the grounds of the science that tells me we cannot continue to produce and burn fossil fuels, or sell the fossil fuels to other countries to burn even tho the profits may be attractive for a few.
The air quality in the Hunter Valley is already atrocious because of mining industries. The water wastage is significant. The pollution which is left behind is appalling. This is a filthy industry which will contribute to the end of life as we know it probably within our children's lifetimes. This issue is more than just 'state significant', it is planet significant.

Thanks for the chance to comment.
