guys,
I am fully supporting this project due to the fact I have been in the mining industry for over 10 years and have seen how mining in small communities like the hunter valley let the towns thrive with work not only in the mines but also the flow in effect to other small Australian companies. The closure of this mine will make my family and myself have to move away to find another job which in this day and age is not ideal. The economy needs these mines to be able to keep growing. The hunter valley would it be able to recover if this project didn’t get approved and so many people would be out of work.
#keep HVO open!

Our community is dependent upon the earnings and investment provided within the community by contractors, trades, farmers, retailers and the professional disciplines, but especially the commitment mining makes to the area. Coal is a part of life here in the Valley, it has provided base load power and employment security to industry, business and our residential communities for generations, it has many uses and ultimately is a safe and stable energy platform haven proven it-self over history as such and is still being extensively used throughout the world.
In uncertain times a sovereign nation needs to ensure capability and capacity are secured, HVO South is not a new mine, and this expansion will continue to serve the people of The Hunter Valley and NSW. The farcical nature of arguments not proven factual have indoctrinated certain philosophies into believing in unsustainable alternatives, this is not the platform to rationalise the reasoning for this here. Anthropogenic carbon emissions have not been verified as having a significant impact to the planet in any detrimental manner, in fact the opposite appears to be the case.
During this period of history coal remains a contemporary sovereign security asset for the people. Glencore and YanCoal have both shown their willingness to abide by the strict and arduous rigour of the Industry Regulator. These are responsible companies who believe in our prosperous future and should be supported for their investment in our Industry, hospitals, schools, universities, and community assets such as sporting, social and welfare organisations and their community programs.
I support the approval of the HVO South Open Cut Continuation Program.

I am currently a 19-year-old apprentice at HVO, since starting I have been treated with the most utmost respect throughout the workforce ranging from management to the crew on the floor, over the past 2 and a bit years I have experienced a lot of HVO. Seeing the company give back to the community has been very heartwarming with donations to the community and christmas toy building and delivery to some unfortunate families of Singleton and Parkes. Fellow apprentices and I also built garden beds and done maintenance at singleton community gardens which felt super great to give back to the community, HVO always encourages us to do good in the community and we apprentices have more projects planned throughout the community. As a young apprentice some would find doing a trade a struggle but with the help of HVO I have been able to get through more than a half of more apprenticeship with no worries. The support we get offered is above and beyond, ranging from mental health programs to physical health programs and many more. I'm only only in the beginning of my trade and without the help of HVO and my work crew I wouldn't be in the position I'm in with my capabilities and goals for my future. My hope is for the continuation project to be approved so I can see out my trade and be the best tradesmen I can be while helping the environment one step at a time. I want to help continue the passion held for my trade for years to come handing down my knowledge to the younger generations just as it has been done for me until my retirement occurs and I can say that HVO played a big part in the success of my life achievements and the making of many talented young tradesmen and tradeswomen in the workforce.

HVO is an important workplace in the hunter valley. It provides direct jobs for 1500+ people, while providing further non-direct jobs for 4500+ people. As an apprentice of this workplace, I receive training which I would not receive in other industries. HVO prides themselves on giving back to the local community. Personally, I have participated in many community events such as donating toys to less fortunate families during Christmas, rebuilding community gardens and delivering donations to rural communities. The Hunter Valley economy will fall if HVO doesn't get an extension. All surrounding LGA's which benefit from, and house employees will lose important citizens in our community. HVO always ensures they look after the environment through our rehabilitation processes. HVO is a workplace which prides themselves on safety and ensured everyone goes home safely. I support the extension of HVO South.

• This not a new mine. We’ve been mining here for 70 years.
• There’ll be little change to the scale or intensity of mining and no increase to approved annual production rates.
• We will continue to effectively manage community impacts.
• Continuing up to 1500 local jobs and support for local businesses that we buy goods and services from.
• Continuing taxes and mining royalties to support schools, hospitals and roads as well as pay for teachers, nurses and Police.
• Continuing local charity and community support through our Workplace Giving, sponsorship and community grants program.

I think this project provides significant benefits to the local community. It will provide a long term future for coal mining in the hunter valley without extending the mine on its current boundaries. I am in full support for this project to go ahead.

HVO boosts the economy of the surrounding suburbs by providing donations as well as employment of many individuals. Without this, many jobs will be lost, and the economy will be on a big downturn with many people suffering. The continuation project will continue to support the economy and is very much needed.

Good things are coming from HVO, for the mine itself, the workforce, environment and community so its a no brainer to approve this project extension. This will provide job security and allow younger workers such as myself to see out our careers here at hvo until we retire which no other mine has, HVO is giving back to the community so its all about give and take and I truly believe coal mining isn’t a bad thing because we are the prime source of electricity.
