I support HVO as they are keeping people in jobs, as well as providing sustainable materials across the world to help keep economy booming, as well as provide materials for everyday life. They are working together to rehabilitate the land also and that is great.

The project creates an incredible employment opportunity for our rural communities. This benefits all local businesses as many families move to the area and then spend locally. To lose the mine would leave the towns with many losses and flow on to affect employment of many businesses.

I support the project due to the amount of jobs this site creates, the amount of small & large businesses in the local area that service the HVO site. As well as the ongoing charity, community grants & community work that HVO does. Support for infrastructure from the royalties & taxes that HVO pay to assist with paying for schools, hospitals, roads, etc. The new bridge across mosses crossing will assist the locals with better access during large rain events.

I am supporting the project as it helps me support my family as it is where I work. It helps thousand or so people that are perinate staff but it also helps the community with work for contractors and labours by which there are thousands of families that HVO helps to provide for as in the form of donations to family support centres

I feel if hvo shuts down the local area will suffer greatly as there is no plan in place to assist local areas from mining to farm or other work

The continuation program is an opportunity for not only workers but the greater community to continually thrive through the vast business/ employment opportunities it ready provides to the Hunter region. This developing network will continue to help our families thrive through this expensive economy and living costs. Affordability due to working opportunities. 1000’s of families are relying on this renewal to continue raising their families, continue the culture of mining in the area and sustain the importance of the operation and its impact on our greater community. For those making a shift into the mining industry partaking in Traineeships/ Apprenticeship programs this is a stepping stone for a big change to many and to some change their life as it has for mine and my young family. Covid 19 changed our lives and impacted all workforces and put a scare for many families in industries including hospitality, health and construction. The opportunities that mining offers a chance to regain stability for years to come and ensure our economy remains afloat

This project is not only a continuation, it is a security for current employees, families and external contractors/ businesses outside of the company to take part in.

But this is our future for our families! Future for our children and opportunity for stability and job security.
HunterValley deserves this approval and so do our families

This also gives hardworking contractors a voice/ a shot at transitioning and becoming apart of this next journey as a company! So for that I support it

I strongly support this project to go ahead!

I could endlessly talk about all the people that would be opposed to this extension, but I won’t.
The amount of families it directly affects if it does not get approved is way more important than those who would choose to oppose it. This approval needs to go ahead not just for the local communities that rely on this approval but for the economy local and national.

Im a local Aboriginal man who grew up in housing commission with nothing, i then went on to live in subsidies housing myself relying on centrelink and a little bit of casual work to support my family. I gained employment with HVO and since then i have been able to provide a positve future for my young family and break the cycle. My employment with HVO has enabled me to buy a house, car provide clothing, food, medical and dental needs for my children pay for them to go on school excursions attend sporting events. Everything i own or paying off (house) has come from working at HVO. If HVO was to cease operations it would have a detrimental effect on myself my family and everyone that is employed there and the surrounding towns.

This project will benefit both my family and the wider community directly. Without coal mines the hunter valley will not survive. HVO donates so much to charities and also keeps thousands of people employed.

As an employee of HVO south i am so proud of the organisation and what it stands for. It is not only an amazing company to work for that looks after their employees and provides thousands of people with jobs throughout the region they are a massive contributor to the community. since working at hvo i have been involved in many fundraising and charity based activities that contribute to giving back to the local community. I can confidentially say that HVO value the community and the environment and take every step to ensure that we mine with the environment in mind. We take this very seriously and each employee wears this responsibility proudly. Without the continuation of HVO South and North pit the effects on the local economy and community would be detrimental, the employees that rely on HVO to support their family, the organisations that rely on HVO for their donations and contributions and the local towns and business that rely on the people from the organisation and their purchases to support their own families puts into perspective that HVO is not just a coal mine and without it the effects would be devastating for all.

This is an important project which will support local and regional jobs in the local community and surrounding regional areas.
Not only does the project create local jobs but supports local schools, hospitals and roads as well as teachers, nurses and emergency services. HVO is also a big supporter to the running of the Westpac rescue helicopters that supports wider region for critical emergency responses.
The site has been operating successfully for 70 years supplying unique coal deposits of semi coking coal and thermal deposits where the continuation project doesn't increase its scale of intensity of mining and no increase to approved production. This project will a long term benefit not only to the local community but supporting business that can invest and plan head for there future success and growth.

The mining industry has been a main source of my family income for the past 3 generations and I have had the privilege to grow up in a community where mining has had a major impact. After recently moving back to the Hunter Valley I moved from the civil sector into mining because I knew how strong the bonds between the people in the workforce are and how positive of an impact it has on all local surrounding communities. HVO has reinforced this belief I have and I intend in staying at the mine and an active part of the community for the foreseeable future.
The mine not only provides a quality income and therefore a high quality of life, but also provides a good revenue source for the government, both local and national. I can also see first hand the efforts been made to mine the coal as cleanly as possible and the rehabilitation works to reduce the environmental impacts as much as possible.
For the foreseeable future Australia and the world needs coal not only for energy uses but all other forms of technology. HVO, as an existing mine, is in a perfect position to provide this need.
