HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project

This project supports my immediate family. My immediate family consists of 5 adult children whom also contribute to the local economy. If this project doesn’t go ahead I will move to an area where I can continue my career. This move will highly likely include taking my adult children thus extra loss to the state from taxes. My partner like many others is a government worker (school teacher) so that would be another teacher lost from an industry that is struggling. I’m am sure that out of all the people working or being supported by HVO that there are plenty of other partners in jobs that if the worker leaves the area to continue elsewhere the local industries, government agencies and economy would suffer.

I support the project as it provides thousands of local jobs and brings millions of dollars into the local community and many businesses, I also support the project as it pays my wage every week which allows my family to survive every week and enjoy a happy life! Not to mention all the local support the mine provides for families, charities, businesses, schools and so on.
If the project is to get knock back hundreds of people are going to lose there jobs, and times are hard enough at the moment without that stress on top

The continuation of HVO South is a great thing for not only the 1500 workers and contractors that are employed through HVO, But also the continuation of community support HVO gives to the local township of singleton and the surrounding suburbs. HVO is a fantastic place to work and hopefully to continue into the future with this continuation.

This project will give continued employment to people working at the mine and to local businesses who support the mine. As this is an extension of the existing mine and not a new lease it shouldn't have any major impact on the local area.

I support the current project for the employment opportunities locally, both dirrectly and indirectly.
This project is not impacting any areas that were not already approved.

After reading all the information about the continuation project, I support the mine because the amount of people directly and indirectly employed by it is will have too big an impact on the community. Also the benefits for the area like a new flood proof bridge over the Hunter River at Jerrys Plains to replace Moses Crossing at no cost to the public will be a great asset to the area. Local Charities and communities also benefit from a wide variety of donations from HVO. The Royalties for Australia from the mine is enormous, also which helped Australia through the pandemic. The environmental controls that the company have to adhere to are taken very seriously by not only the company, but the workers as well because they live in the area and don't want to spoil it for their children an grandchildren.

I support the project

HVO is an important part of the Hunter Valley. It provides employment and support to many families and the local community. I would like to support the project so that this support will continue to into the future.

I am wanting to submit a personal submission in total support of the proposed continuation project for both HVO South & North EIS, & points for this include,
- HVO is considered a responsible employer within NSW, providing significant job opportunities & training to personnel.
- HVO provides significant employment opportunities to Hunter Region, including Singleton & extended communities.
This provides direct (via full time employment) & indirect employment to many suppliers & businesses within these regions.
- HVO provides significant support to local community projects & charities.

I strongly support the HVO continuation project, not only will this secure the future for my young growing family but many other families within the Hunter valley. HVO is a great place to work and I have seen firsthand how the local communities surrounding HVO benefit from such a project.

I support the continuation of this project

I support the HVO mine continuation project and the ongoing benefit it will bring the Hunter Valley communities and royalties this operation will provide for support infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and roads. The HVO mine will also assist in meeting the world's need for high quality thermal coal into the future.

I support the project as one of the thousands of employees whom rely on this projects success to support their families looking into the future.
Hunter valley operation as a company are at the forefront of safety for its workplace as well as leading the charge in greener mining. Its commitment to sustainable future is why the project should be continued.

This project should continue as it maintains employment and keeps families fed and workers in work. Is it important to put citizens into consideration.

I support the Continuation project for the simple reason this mine will continue to provide employment for over 1500 people in the Hunter. There is minimal change to their existing footprint and local/Australian businesses receive over half a Billion dollar in spend each year.

The continued operation of HVO is imperative to its employees and local businesses. My personal future is built on the future of this mine and I believe it should continue to serve the local community and the economy.

HVO is an existing long term coal operation that has existed in it's current location for decades. It's an important provider of employment and government revenue. It has successful coexisted with other industries for many years and will continue to unhold the highest environmental standards moving forward into this continuation project.
TACTech Mine Planning is a small mining consultancy business owned and operated by Hunter Valley residents. We support 8 local families through full time employment in the open cut coal mining industry. We believe coal mining has a place in the future of the Hunter economy, particularly where the coal mines are already in place and their development is a continuation.
