I have a big concern with this project and its affect on migratory birds and the threat turbines have for these birds.
Wind turbines also generate infrasound that effects the behavior of other native animals.
Apart from the environmental effect to wild life there is also the treat of bush fires caused by malfunctioning turbines which affects neighboring properties and the local volunteers in the CFA.
Wind turbines do not produce enough energy to warrant the affects they will have on the surrounding communities when factoring in the battery storage systems and transmission lines that are also necessary.

This is prime agricultural land, also fronting numerous waterways. I do not support the proposed development of wind farm(s) on this site as it has potentially devastating long-term environmental effects and will disturb the abundance of native wildlife in this area. Do not go ahead with this development.

I object to the building of this wind farm due to the impact this will have on the surrounding landscape. Not only are these an eyesore but they are also a fire hazard and should they break they release fibreglass fibres which can render the land useless. An inquiry should really be carried out to look at the true environmental impacts these will have.

Build this in Sydney or Melbourne.
When the project does actually generate power, transmission losses will ensure that the few will benefit. The land hosts think they will benefit, until the the project reaches the end of its life and they are left to decommission the project.
Where will the blades be recycled/dumped?
How much water will all the projects in the SW REZ use? What is the cumulative impact of all the water every project uses to make cement and suppress dust.
What is the cumulative impact of these projects on native flora and fauna?
This project is an environmental, social, economic and agricultural disaster.

Will at best produce power 2 days out of 7.
Will be required to be connected to electricity 24/7 in order to keep the turbines working for the days when the wind does blow satisfactorily.
All turbines will have to be shut down when the wind is too strong.
Will never provide affordable electricity to Australians as this project will have to be backed up by an electricity generation system that can provide power every day and every night irrespective of the weather. Thus we will need 2 electricity systems: one reliable and then the so called "renewables". Save the transmission costs and let's just have the reliable generators.
This project will contribute to the extinction of native flora and fauna: extensive land clearing and hostile habitats.
This project will contribute to the cumulative impacts of all the other projects in this area that nobody appears to be calculating. Land hosts think they are going benefit, the Council thinks it will benefit. All benefits will be short term as the land hosts will find they cannot live on their land as they cannot stand the noise let alone the industrial landscape. Land hosts are ultimately responsible for the decommissioning, there is no bond required by the developer to ensure that the funds are available for land rehabilitation. Communities will disappear as the population moves elsewhere.
Excessive water usage, waste, cement, visual pollution, habitat fragmentation, birdstrikes, toxic waste from blades as they deteriorate, unrecyclable imported toxic waste, zero effective aerial fire fighting. This is an environmental, social and agricultural disaster.

This submission addresses the proposed Junction Rivers Wind Farm (formerly Burrawong Wind Farm) project, located in the Balranald region of New South Wales (NSW), near the border with Victoria. The project involves the construction of 96 turbines, each up to 300 meters high, with a combined capacity of 750MW, along with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 200MW/4hr or up to four synchronous condensers. This submission critically assesses the potential environmental impacts, particularly on local flora and fauna, and evaluates the project's compliance with relevant environmental legislation in NSW, as well as broader economic implications based on recent research.

I object strongly to the Rivers Wind Farm proposal. I am concerned with the decommissioning of turbines on their life span. I think there is other ways to generate power that does not affect the covering of land in such a grand scale. I also believe the government just bullies constituents into these projects.

I DO NOT APPROVE. Unsound economics, environmental vandalism. No benefit to our landscape or environment. Will take a heavy toll on our roads. Impacts the future use of the land and pollutes. Too many planned in this area, the only ones that are for it have sold out for financial gain or they mentally incapacitated. Wind is not a viable solution and has not been shown to be so. A terrible fire hazard on these summer sunburnt Plains.

I disagree strongly with the River wind Farm Project. I do not believe that wind farms especially on good arable land should be built. The decommissioning of turbines are a huge concern and do not believe the ground can be returned to its original conditioned and what happens to the turbines and how are they disposed. I believe the government bullies their constituents into these projects with out the proper care or real knowledge of the consequences.

Objection to Junction Rivers Wind Electricity Generating Works (SSD-30448824)
I am writing to formally object to the Junction Rivers Wind Electricity Generating Works proposal, primarily due to serious cumulative environmental, agricultural, community and health concerns associated with the proposal.
1. Cumulative Environmental Impacts:
The proposed development of 96 turbines with a tip height of up to 300 meters represents a substantial industrial footprint. The cumulative environmental impacts of such a large-scale project on local ecosystems, wildlife, and natural resources are of significant concern. The scale of this operation, combined with the ongoing development of other wind projects in the region, risks overwhelming the local environment's capacity to cope with industrial disturbance. This includes potential disruption to avian populations and habitats, increased noise pollution, and significant alterations to local land use patterns.
2. Potential Pollution from Turbine Blade Materials:
A critical issue that has not been adequately addressed is the potential for pollution from the turbine blade materials, specifically the shedding of BPA (bisphenol A) nano particles. BPA is commonly used in the epoxy resin of turbine blades due to its strength and durability. However, the shedding of these particles over time poses a risk of contaminating rivers, dams, agricultural lands, and rainwater tanks. BPA is a known endocrine disruptor with potential harmful effects on human health, including reproductive and developmental issues. The presence of BPA in the environment could lead to long-term contamination of water sources and soil, impacting agricultural produce and posing risks to human health through the food chain and direct exposure.
3. Health and Safety Concerns:
The potential health impacts associated with BPA contamination cannot be overstated. The long-term exposure to BPA, even at low levels, has been linked to a range of health issues, including hormone disruption, developmental problems, and increased risk of certain cancers. The proposed wind farm's operational processes, particularly the deterioration and shedding of turbine blades, could exacerbate these risks. It is essential to consider these health implications for local communities and implement stringent measures to prevent BPA pollution.
Request for Condition of Consent:
In light of these concerns, I request that if this proposal is approved (against the will of the community) that this approval be contingent upon the following condition: All turbine blades must be manufactured using BPA-free materials. This precaution would mitigate the risk of environmental contamination and safeguard public health, ensuring that the project aligns with contemporary standards for environmental and human safety.
4. Decommissioning- there must be an upfront government managed decommissioning fund setup with money paid at the outset of the project. This should not be left to the host landowners to ensure their private contracts include decommissioning of turbines. There must be transparency assurance of decommissioning for surrounding landowners and the community in any conditions of consent.
In conclusion, approval of renewable energy developments proposed by predominantly 100% profit driven foreign owned multinationals, must not come at the expense of environmental integrity and public health.
Thank you for considering my objection.

I object to this project because I live and work in the Kyalite area and I’m worried about what these turbines will do to the land and environment around them and also the mental health of the farmers and workers that this will effect as that isn’t taken into consideration.
I’ve seen a lot of footage of wind turbine blades being buried underground which is not environmentally friendly which ruins the soil and also the concrete that is poured into the ground for the turbines footings which can never be farmed again.
This is a 1.2 billion dollar project and no amount of power these turbines produce in their lifespan will ever pay back and the tax payer and future families will have to pay for.

I object.
Please stop destroying our beautiful rural landscapes and our important farming land. BESS and industrial wind factories are prone to fires and are far too damaging to our nation.

Australia's agricultural sector is vital, contributing around $60 billion annually to the GDP. The expansion of renewable energy projects on our farmland is reducing our ability to produce food, which will have a severe impact on both our local economy and the national GDP. The government should not be allowing energy projects to take precedence over agriculture. The critically endangered Mallee Emu-wren, which depends on the Mallee vegetation in our area, is losing its habitat to these developments.

Our farms are the backbone of Australia's economy, with agriculture contributing around $60 billion to GDP annually.
The erosion caused by the construction of wind turbines and solar farms is making our land less productive, which will inevitably reduce our contribution to the national economy. The government is putting energy production over food security.
The endangered Plains-wanderer, which relies on our native grasslands, is being driven to extinction by these developments.
