The proposed modification involves an extension to the stockpile at the Cooranbong Site. The project will provide more efficient and effective management of Mandalong coal to domestic and export markets via the Cooranbong Site. Failure to provide coal of sufficient quantities to Eraring Power Station and other customers could risk the ongoing employment at the Mandalong Mine, local suppliers and local businesses that are supported by the Mandalong Mine.

Good for job security

This is a great project for the region and community. it will create new jobs and secure cheaper energy supply to NSW.

This project is supported to enable necessary improvements to the Mandalong mine stockpile at the Cooranbong site. This is critical to enable efficient capability of coal fuel supply to Eraring Power Station and the future local employment of the employees at Mandalong mine and the related stakeholders.

Longevity of coal mining in the Hunter region is critical to its economic survival. Employment and quality of life relies on it. Improvements such as this are imperative to its future strength. Further, the safety of our workforce in this necessary industry will be improved through better practice management of the coal as will reliability of our power infrastructure.

I feel that the extension will not only keep local jobs, but continue to grow Newcastle and the hunters coal industry. It's what newcastle relies on. Without investment into the coal industry, Newcastle's economic future will look grim.

I support the project. This project provides jobs to numerous people who live and spend their money in the local area supporting the local economy. It also has the follow on effect of supporting local businesses.

This project will enhance the ability to maintain and produce a stockpile of high quality coal for the domestic and export markets. Failure to do so will impact the job security at Mandalong mine.

I SUPPORT this project and also mining in this community - this provides much needed direct employment and also related employment for the region in 6:1 ratio

I provide total support for this project. This project is an extension of an existing stockpile which in turn will continue to support the local employment in the Hunter Region at the Mandalong Coal Mine. Not only does it support employment at the mine but will also provide a direct benefit with regional suppliers and their employment. In addition, this project will also have an economic benefit to NSW with coal supply required for the Energy Security of NSW.

The project is important to the future viability of the Mandalong Mine and to provide increased job security for over 500 employees and contractors.

With the mine employing so many local people and contributing to the community in many other ways - it is essential that this approval is granted to ensure a secure future for the operation and assist the applicant overcome some of the many constraints it faces as a coal producer in a world that is still very reliant upon its product for reliable energy production.

If approved, the project would allow Mandalong Mine to more efficiently manage the flow of coal to both domestic and export markets. Given that Mandalong Mine is such a large contributor and employer in the local region, and the constraints faced by coal producers, it is essential that this project is approved to ensure the long-term viability of the operation.
