Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

The Hunter relies on miming for its continued existence everybody is reliant on the mines in one way or another for certain parties to say that Newcastle will reinvent itsself is bordering on the ridiculous the entire region is wholly reliant on the mining industry the amount of infrastructure the government has put in place over the last couple of years shows this not to mention the amount if big companies ie westrac SanDisk leisure and Joyce globals have invested in New buildings training and equipment if mining leaft this region it would spell disaster for an awfully lot of people and their family's mining needs to remain strong in the Hunter or entire communities will disappear over night

Without this industry. It puts the whole valley at risk and not to mention the damage that it will do to the state and country
Does anyone realise what would happen to power prices if you close down coal mines and power stations.

The racing industry is built on gambling. Every industry in Australia has bad points about it and the mining industry does there best to minimise there's

I have been a employee at MTW for 2 years and a Riotinto employee for 5, they are a great company and a family company this extention means I wouldn't have to work away from home and my young boy and we could stay in the area. Many more family's in the same situation the extention would bring nothing but wealth to the are

I support the continued operation of the mine at Warkworth. It would appear that the mining operations are an extension of the existing operations. As part of the extended operations, appropriate environmental works should be carried out to protect the local residents. Refusal of the application would mean unemployment for the mine workers. This would include my son-in-law. He and his family, including their two young children are dependant on his employment to survive. I am very concerned for their future if he looses his job.

these mines have been operating in the area for over 30 years and have been the reason some of these small towns exist. The effects of stopping this expansion from going ahead will be felt all over the hunter valley it won't be just the workers at these mines that will be out of a job all the companies that supply them with services will no longer be able to employ as many people as they will have lost work so this is an injustice to the miners of the hunter valley as the hunter valley was built on the back of the mining industry so why is it now such a crime to mine coal do these people watch or listen to the news of how many jobs have been cut from the industry in the past 2 years and they want to add more to them figures let some common sense prevail and keep these people employed for another 30 years

1300 MTW workers and thier familes need this extension to be approved. Not only the direct workers but the suppliers and contractors that need MTW to be open as well. If this extension is not approved it would be a massive blow for the local community and the MTW workers.

Please take into consideration the amount of people who will be affected if the mine closes due to the expansion not being approved. Not only will the people who work there lose their jobs but the whole of the Hunter will suffer, business will close, schools will lose students and funding. By the expansion not being approved the whole Hunter Valley community will suffer one way or another.

My partner and I moved to NSW nearing 2years now and purchased a house in Greta. From what I can see Mount Thorley Warkworth mine contributes too much within the community and would therefore be detrimental if the expansions continue to be pushed back. My livelyhood along with many others depend on Mount Thorley.

I have written in too show my support for the expansion process approval in regards to Mount Thorley Warkworth.

I strongly support this submission.
We have seen enough job losses in Huntervalley Mining and support industry in recent times. It's time to support the people working in the industry, not just the mines, but all the support industries and local retail business.
Securing this application will help maintain the jobs of not just the 1300 workers at MTW, but many more jobs in the support industry and the local community.
Please pass this application.

I am 23 years old I have been working at mount Thorley warkworth since I was 19. I like many others that rely on the mine have a mortgage a wife and now a new born baby to support, being 19 when I started I do not have a trade or many qualifications behind me if I lose this job so from a personal perspective the loss of this job would be critical to me and my young family but I also think it's important to voice the facts from on the job here at warkworth. People on the outside do not see or realise the importance that is placed on the mining team here to be "good neighbours" to the surrounding communities, there is no hesitation from our leaders to park equipment if we are exceeding our noise levels or if dust is a problem, not to mention the on going donations that are making the community a better place. I feel that some people get caught up in all this stuff but don't actually realise what happens here at work.

I come from a family of 6 generations that previously owned a dairy in bulga. I personally still live in bulga 28yrs. My father works at mt thorley/warkworth for 30+ yrs. we are against the expansion. We are living with constant noise, dust, vibrations and the greedy rudeness of the workers from this mine.! The mine and everyone knew the mine had a life span of 30yrs, the mine got greedy when the coal prices were high and pushed as much coal out as possible, now there come to the end, trying to invade on a small community well established before the mine. There forced families out of family homes, made them sign contract not the whinge. We all knew the mines around singleton were coming to an end, where've had it to good for so long. This mine just needs to face the closure. 2 courts have overturned the expansion and there's reasons behind the over turns including environmental issues which are not goin to improve if the mine was to come any closer. I'm constantly awake at night from noise and choking during the day from the dust. Take a drive from bulga to singleton following another veichle and watch the dust fly from the road from the cars tyres. We have a pool which now has to be vacuumed everyday as the dust from the coal turns to smile and if left longer then a day makes it very hard to get off. Every week we constantly changing water filters from our drinking water. There are more jobs available then mining in singleton, if your wanting a career in mining, there a plenty of other mines hitting there boom and employing. There might also not be many jobs lost if people weren't so greedy and didn't have 2 parties from the one family in the same mine.
