On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022. WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

Our busniess has recently undergone significant transformation and if MTW was to close down, our busniess and team will greatly feel the effects . This will advertantly lead to our business also scaling down with redundnacy of the personnel attached to providing service to this operation resulting.
The impact of this business closing is felt right across the industry directly, not just those locally in the Hunter Region.
Job's Multiplier 1300 Jobs lost at the mine+ hundereds more indirectly.

Including just building a house ( supporting the building industry) Restaurants, super markets, clothing shops, butchers and grocers supporting the local farming communities, My local Garage where I get my car serviced.
My Wife also works at a local Motel who often have mining contractors stay for weeks while they work doing shutdowns on heavy equipment in the mines.
So I see it as a lot of money filtering through to support the wider Hunter Valley.

Even the most conservative economic analysis shows the overwhelming net contribution that coal mining makes to the region and the state. Roughly 10% off all coal exports through Port Waratah come from the MTW complex, so the application to extend the mine's life is no trivial matter.
Granting the mine life extension will be a vote for common sense.

Coal & Allied have been part of the Hunter community for more than 100 years providing coal for power, royalties for the NSW Government, export sales to long term trade partners, income for workers and supporting businesses. The final stage of the mine can be mined sustainably and the land returned to alternative ongoing productive use. Do not let this valuable resource be forfeited by short-sighted opinions. The project should be approved with satisfactory enviromental, health and safety standards agreed. Our resources can benefit not only the Singleton community, but also all citizens of NSW and ultimately all Australians. Every economically viable resource project adds to our economic strength, our standard of living and what we are able to do to provide international aid for developing countries and aid in times of emergencies and recovery from natural disaster. Think globally and ensure this project is approved.

NSW cannot afford to lose hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue if this doesnt go ahead. Every one in the state will suffer as there will be less money for hospitals, roads, police and education, just to name a few. The main nay sayers of this expansion arrived long after the mine opened and knew full well that we were there and now they want to complain. It would be like me moving to Mascot then complaining about the aircraft noise. Other who complain dont even live i the area and this expansion would not affect them. If fact they would be the ones to benefit from the extra money flowing into the NSW coffers. I have spoken to a number of neighbours myself and they are all for the expansion and if fact a number of them work there.
This expansion needs to go ahead, not only for me but for the people of NSW. The benefits far outweigh any negatives the nay sayers dredge up every time something like this seeks permission to go ahead.
I strongly support this proposal.

Me being a mechanic at the mine can assure the local community that I will do my bit to be a good neighbour, always consider others and have a positive attitude towards maintaining & improving the environment we share.

I have worked at Mt Thorley/Warkworth and it is very concerning to see workers stressed about there employment and them wondering if they will have a job soon.
Local businesses are struggling due to mining downturn and this will worsen if 1500 people are out of work.
Singleton its time to be proud of the mining industry and to stand together to keep our community strong.
