I support the submission of the Mt Thorley/Warkworth extension. If the extension does not get through it will greatly affect me and my family. It will put immense financial pressure and stress on me, my family and the community. I fear that in this current economical downturn it will be hard for me and the 1300 strong workforce to pick up work if the extension does not go proceed. I also think the chain reaction effect will shatter the local community businesses the local and state governments.

i support the proposal for the extension of the Mount Thorley Warkworth mine,
The extension for me means my futur,e i have worked here for 3 years, my father in law has worked with this company for over 30 yrs and my partner has worked as a contractor to the mines thru contracting work for 10 yrs, as you can see if this extension is to be denied there will be a massive impact on us, our families and the local community thru our living, spending and contributation to the local community. Ultimately we may have to leave the area for work,
please consider how huge this will be on our local area and also thru the loss of support and funding that Rio Tinto contributes to the local area,
thankyou Renee Edwards

This expansion must go ahead to support the Singleton area.
I have worked at this site for 33 years and Coal & Allied have supported the Singleton district for as long as I can remember.

1300 job losses if this does not go ahead.

I support this submission as the employment of 1300 employee's and numerous other sub-contracting companies the extension will support as well as the community and environment due the financial offsets and other money's directly injected into the community.

I support the submission of the Mt Thorley/Warkworth extension. If the extension does not get through it will greatly affect me and my family. It will put financial pressure and stress on me and my family. It will also affect the 1300 strong workforce who are employed at the mine if does not proceed. I also think the flow on effect will greatly affect the local community and businesses with a great deal more job losses.

to whom it may concern....this decision concerns myself, my family, my workmates, the local economy, government and many others! not to mention my future! I feel like my life is on hold and the uncertainty of not knowing what the future may hold is unnerving! The people of Bulga that have NOT lived there longer than the mine has been here in my opinion have no right to complain about this extension as they obviously knew that a mine was next door and that dust, noise and whatever else comes with the territory! It's like buying a house next to an airport then complaining about noise! Its a case of few against many and I believe that it is more important to extend this mine and keep 1200+ people gainfully employed, local businesses that rely on this mine for business and not to mention the taxes and royalties for the government! Please approve this extension and keep alot of peoples future hopeful and bright! regards....Ryan Jones

I have worked at MTW for 4 years as a Mine Geologist. While I am single with no dependents, I do provide some financial assistance to my parents when they are in need.

If MTW was forced to be closed or if I were to lose my job, I would have to sell my home in Singleton, and would likely move to WA or QLD to look for work. This would be devastating for me and my family, as I would no longer be a drive away to support them. It would also mean the town of Singleton loses yet another person, in a time that the downturn of the industry is already greatly affecting the property market and other businesses.

I support mining in NSW.
I am concerned about the impact of government policies on our mining industry. Mining contributes a great deal to our state. It is the biggest export industry in NSW, provides tens of thousands of direct jobs, provides billions in royalties, and supports jobs in other industries like manufacturing. New layers of regulation and an increasingly complicated planning system threaten the industry in NSW and put our future prosperity at risk.
Miining in NSW is facing the toughest conditions in 20 years with many jobs lost in the last six months and many more could follow. While mining regions like the Hunter bear the brunt of these job losses, Sydney will also be affected as investment and revenue are lost to NSW

ive been a local active member of the community all my life i'm relative new to mining i understand that the bulga community feels threatened, but on the other hand 1300 hunter valley jobs with there lively hoods are under threat these workers are pouring money into the hunter valley rio tinto also support and donate money to a large number of charities. i feel if we dont get this expansion rio tinto will invest else where and that the surrounding communities will suffer from the fall out mining is very important to the hunter valley we should be supporting local jobs not fighting against them
