Without the mines and especially Mt Thorley Warkworth, Rio Tinto Coal & Allied, Singleton would be a lot worse off. The community needs mining and all that it brings to town. Let the expansion go ahead.

I support mining in NSW.
I am concerned about the impact of government policies on our mining industry. Mining contributes a great deal to our state. It is the biggest export industry in NSW, provides tens of thousands of direct jobs, provides billions in royalties, and supports jobs in other industries like manufacturing. New layers of regulation and an increasingly complicated planning system threaten the industry in NSW and put our future prosperity at risk.
Miining in NSW is facing the toughest conditions in 20 years with many jobs lost in the last six months and many more could follow. While mining regions like the Hunter bear the brunt of these job losses, Sydney will also be affected as investment and revenue are lost to NSW

I have worked at Mount Thorley/ Warkworth for 2 years now. I moved here from another mine in the Hunter Valley. My wife works as a school teacher locally and both of my childrn were born in Singleton Hospital. I believe that having this extension accepted would be a wonderful step forward to so many people I know (full time employees, onsite and offsite contractors and local businesses), that are scared of the outcomes of what will happen should this operation close prematurely. I can appreciate the environmental impact of this dicission, but I believe that mining can be off everyones benifit if practised sustainably

As a previous employee of MTW I have seen first hand the extent to which the team aim to enforce and adhere to environmental and social impacts on our community. The offset offered seems reasonable and it does not appear that the disturbance will greatly alter from the current operations.

I support the extension to MTW mine. I currently work on site as a contractor. I have worked at the mine permanently based for the past 5 years. Before that I worked on site on a regular basis since 2004. My Father worked at Warkworth Mining Limited back in the early 80's as well.
My wife Noelle and I are looking to have our first child next year but with the mines future in jeopardy we are reluctant to start just yet until there is a decision handed down on the mines future.
A majority of people who are against the mines proposal directly or indirectly work for or are beneficiary to money that the mine brings to the area.

I support this submission as the employment of 1300 employee's and numerous other sub-contracting companies rely on the extension being approved. The community and environmental benefits due the financial offsets and other money's directly injected into the community.

I would like to support the MTW modification submission because this will sustain the employment of 1300 employee's and numerous other sub-contracting companies that rely on the extension being approved.
Our company does everything possible to control environmental disturbance and has a proven record of restoring the site to its former state prior to mining disturbance.
The community and environmental benefits due the financial offsets and other money's will be directly injected into the community.
Please consider granting this submission in favour of MTW and the overwhelming majority of local benefactors within our community.

I am a employee at coal and Allied, I think this extention should go through because,
1 I have bought a home in the area as have many people, there would be many job losses if it doesnt go through and not enough positions avaliable at other sites to fill those vacancies,
My Family and I spend alot of money locally and support local buisnesses, it would be a great loss to the local comunities through the flow on effect if the extention doesnt go through.

I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth for 2 years as a haul truck operator. If the mine did not get the modification I fear I would lose my job. This would impact my family and I may have to leave the Hunter Valley area to find another job. I am born and bred in the Hunter Valley and do not want to leave this area.

I am in favour of any mine expansion in the Hunter Valley as I believe the future of the region hinges on the success of the industry due to the number of people it employs.

The Warkworth extension needs to be approved and implemented.
The extension means that my husband has a chance to be employed on a permanent basis. This means job security for our family! Without the extension, my husband continues to work on a contract basis, with no holiday or sick pay. He has been informed that when a position becomes available, he will be high on the list to be employed. Without the extension, there is no opportunity for extra positions to become available, hence living on a shift-to-shift basis.
A friend and my brother have had their hours of employment decreased as the business they are employed with have been quiet - they are connected to the mining industry.
It is not just a bout the area surrounding the mine itself. It is about all the families of those who work at this mine. It is about all the families who have loved ones working in a business with mining connections! It is about job security and job opportunity!

I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine for 3 years. I moved my family to the area for a permanent job at the mine and settled life while my children completed school. I fear if the mine does not get the Warkworth Modification I will have to leave the area again as there will be 1300 other people looking for employment.
