The extention means alot to me as I have worked at MTW for five years now, besides the financial aspect which I rely on, this mine site does alot of wonderful things for the community and we need the extention to ensure myself and the hundreds of other people that work here can live!

If the extension doesn't get the approval I will lose my job at the mine, I support 7 people with the income i genarate at the mine, I have a mortgage and it would be very hard for me to continue to pay this loan, the wider community would be affected as there would be a possibility that i would have to move out of the area

I support this submission for my family and the livelyhood of the Newcastle and Hunter Region. Firstly without this job i cant supply the medical needs that my daughter needs for quality of life which is the main reason i sought employement in this industry. Secondly newcastle is slowly losing all its industry, weve lost the steelworks where i was an employee for 11 years, weve lost the aluminium smelters where i have friends who now are trainees in the mining sector, weve lost ship building and if the mines start to close then there is no infastructure to support families in Newcastle. Its okay to say no but people need to step back and look at the impact it will have on not only there town but the whole region. Thank you and please consider this submission.

hunter valley with reduced mining
the wider hunter community must be considered before a decision is made. as an older miner i am finantually stable .if there is an early mine closure i will survive. as for younger miners with family at school with a 5550 k morgage car on leasethe out come will not be good.
employment oppertunities outside the mining industry are limited and can only get worse.

I have been at MTW 27 years in a variety of roles.
I also have a small business and I believe that if the extension at MTW is not approved it could adversely effect my business and my employment at MTW.

I am putting forward my submission to voice my worry about what will happen to myself and the local community if the MTW (Mount Thorley Warkworth) expansion does not get approved.
Firstly from my personal standing i will be made redundand and will be looking for a job in a time where getting a job is becoming very hard in the current climate.
I would find it hard to pay bills like rent, bills etc
I would find myself most likely on the dole struggling to pay bills and rent.
Secondly the local community will be greatly affected if the approval doesnt go through companies like westrac and komatsu will most likely close there Thorley sites due to lack of work. Also local shops like the smoko shops in Branxton< Thorley and Greta will suffer and most likely close due to lack of business.
If the approval does not go through it will be a devastating blow not Just to thorley and the local community but also the Government the taxes and also employees taxes provides alot of money for the government and also MTW has alot of local community programs providing grants and funding for local evnts and people this would all dissapear if the approval is not givin the go ahead.
In summary it would be a great dissapointment for everyone if the MTW application does not go through.

This submission greatly effects the future of my family. As a 36 year old married father of three young children, with a morgage, this extention secures not only my day to day work but the education, health and financial security for my family.
It also secures the day to day working life of my wife, as she is employed in the childcare industry which many mining families rely upon. The submission will also greatly affect the working future of my children, because without mining there will be very limited oportunities in years to come in any industry in the Hunter Valley.

I support the Warkworth extension. If this project fails to be approved it will put more than 1300 people out of work, and thus impact the local community greatly. The Mount Thorley Warkworth mine contibutes funds to the local community and to other organisations that support the community such as the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Singleton Hospital.
It will also impact on my ability to provide for my family as i will be 1 of the 1300 to be made redundant.

Dear Minister,
I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.
I have grown up in the Hunter Valley and currently have worked at Warkworth for three years in the wash plant. I rely on this income to support my family.
Mount Thorley Warkworth provides a stable income for over 1,300 full time employees in the Hunter Valley. And the operation of the mine reaches into many other businesses that supply MTW. Thousands of people depend on this mine and if production was to drop, the result could be devastating.
We need certainty. We've been wondering what the future holds now for four years. If this minor modification to an existing, 30 year old mine does not get approved, I am worried about what this will mean for local jobs and investment across the NSW mining industry.
Please accept this submission in support of the Warkworth Modification.
Regards
Andrew
