I am particularly concerned about their evacuation procedures, especially in regard to fire. The evacuation plan is great on paper, but I fail to see how you are going to control tens of thousands of people who are panicking and possibly drunk or on drugs and get them to safety.
There could be a great disaster, especially if numbers are allowed to increase.
These festivals also cause a huge amount of stress on infrastructure and it seems as though the local ratepayers are having to bear the financial costs which is totally unreasonable.
Local businesses have to put up with people wanting to use their toilets and rubbish bins as there are not enough facilities in Brunswick Heads.
Some businesses find it very stressful as they can't procure extra staff for these periods due to it not being economical to have to train extra staff for a few days a year.
Last of all, the site is in a sensitive wildlife corridor. When has it ever been suitable for animals to have a massive music festival plonked in the middle of their habitat? The wildlife corridor was deemed a sensitive area well before Parklands came along.

- to allow for changes to patron size and to harmonise the conditions to reflect a permanent cultural events site
- for the permanent use of the North Byron Parklands as a cultural events site for up to 50,000 patrons
While there are impacts from development, and this is no exception, I feel the cultural, social and economic benefits out-weigh the impacts in this instance.

I have attended Splendour in the Grass as a stall holder, I am so in favour that the space continues to provide an incredible opportunity to develop the creative talent in our country. This is also a good opportunity to demonstrate to people that land has many many uses - not just to build development properties - but venues for our artists and makers.

I strongly believe, as a professional management and promotional business in the Australian entertainment industry, that approving this application with help take this region firmly into the future as one of the leading youth arts and cultural destinations in Australia, if not the world and allow future generations to experience the wonderful times my generation did in the past.

This adds opportunities for employment, builds culture in the area and provides great support for the local economy. It also brings world renowned musicals to Byron Bay!
The improvements made to limit noise and impacts are exceptional.

I go to many festivals on many different permanent and casual sites but this one is one of the top. Im sure it can always be bit better but I would say 50K people do less demage then cows or horsers.
I was involved in Falls festival few weeks back and respons from managers to any issue(werent many) was incredibly fast and they managed to fix the problem with smile on their face.
Im in favour to continue festivals on that site.

at the yellen site will be a good thing for the area, It will provide much needed employment, also bringing a lot of money in to the area.
Over the past few years there has been minimal impact to the local residents in the area, the organisers have done an excellent job of listening to comunity misgivings and responding to them in a positive manner.
The development gets a big fat YES from me:) L&L
