current events and also in support for future proposed cultural
events. Although I do have compassion for those adversely effected. I
do believe the positives outway the negatives. The current and
proposed events support local businesses and accommodation revenue and
attract local national and international exposure to our region. The
on flow of this can only be good for tourism which directly supports
employment particularly youth and also small business start ups.
encouraging music, arts and cultural events is proven to support
society in a positive way. Issues of traffic congestion and littering
are my main concerns. I would like to see effective management of
this. I would also like to see more donations to the local villages
effected. Including north of the Event site and in particular
Burringbar and Crabbes creek and mooball. I think that a cycle path
from Mooball to the event site would be an excellent idea!! For
example. I thankyou for the opportunity to have me say and I recommend
everyone with an opinion of North Byron Parklands to do the same. It
is a fabulous site that I love attending as do our young people. I
would like to see festivals /events to continue at North Byron
Parklands. Thankyou

upgrades that have taken place over the years, especially the the
improvement of traffic in/out of the area (it was wonderfull this
year). Now if we look to the broader community and how It is effected,
I would personally say there are so many positive things happening
that out way the negatives. for example WITHOUT the festivals held at
this site, there is a dramatic drop in local business for those weeks,
which in some cases is essential. The holiday parks and rentals would
be left empty, and considering splendour in the grass is held in the
winter, our "off" season, this helps those properties. but yes as a
local I can also see where the negative complaints come from, i love
my sleepy Brunswick heads beach, and not waiting 20 mins for a coffee,
or having to try and find a car park for an hour..... sorry, I totally
forgot, its not 2005 anymore the area is booming with business I
always wait for coffee, I always have to try find a park its become
the normal and thats fine, because I know the area is growing. yes
with help from the festivals and also on its own, so these
"complaints" about the festival should be discarded because I believe
they have nothing to do with the festival but the growth of the area.
and just so I am clear growth of the area is not a bad thing, and I
believe it should be encouraged, as it is a wonderfull place to live.

organisation in the north of the shire. We field teams and players
from age 5 to 58 with over 160 registered players. We are not
supported by council and survive only through the tireless work of
volunteers. Byron Parklands have unselfishly contributed cash
donations to our club on two prior occasions and this support has been
instrumental in ensuring our survival. Byon Parklands have also
financially assist numerous other not for profit organisations in the
shire including schools, cultural organisations, other sporting
organisations and early learning facilities. In addition the
festival's themselves bring a massive and vital boost to local
business and community. Many young people including almost our entire
club attend these music festivals. It is for these reasons that I
support Byron Parland's submission for a perminant Music, Arts and
cultural site at Yelgun, NSW

arts and cultural events. Not only does it bring world-class artists
and events to the region, it also creates jobs for local people, and
it will provide a venue for smaller community events. I believe they
have shown due diligence in community consultation and improving
sound, traffic and environmental impacts and I am happy to pledge my
support.

the submission for North Byron Parklands to become a permanent site
for festivals and other tourism & entertainment, and local community
events. As part of the North Byron Shire business community, we have
very much welcomed the increase in visitation, and therefore business,
to our area. While the festivals themselves attract this increase, in
addition what is noticeable has been the onflow of guests in holiday
periods, perhaps having realised the beauty and ease of holidaying in
this neck of the woods. I wish to acknowledge the manner in which the
team at North Byron Parklands have conducted themselves since the
sites development. They have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.
They have always made themselves available for community consultation,
chamber of commerce meetings, and even popping into the pub post
festival for face to face feedback. Their financial contribution to
the community is also something for which we are most grateful,
upgrading changeroom facilities on our local kids sporting felids, and
tickets for various groups to fundraise with etc to name a couple. The
extra opportunity for work for casual hospitality staff has also been
fantastic for our region since the introduction of festivals at North
Byron Parklands. As a licenced venue in the area, we can report zero
negative behaviour during festival times, and look forward to more fun
and fabulous festival goers coming in for lunches, lattes and a few
cheeky schooners in the future. North Byron Parklands has had a
significant and positive impact on our business, and will be thrilled
for this to continue. I am more than happy to make myself available
for further comment if required.

opportunities to the region along with beneficial economic impact. I
support North Byron Parklands becoming a permanent venue for cultural
events. I have attended every Splendour in the Grass since it moved to
North Byron Parklands and have enjoyed every trip especially as it
allows me to spend time in the Byron area. I did not attend Splendour
in the Grass when it moved to QLD as the travel was too far and the
area was not of as much importance to me.
