I would like to strongly object to the removal of Willow Grove Terrace in Parramatta. This building is so beautiful and full of character. It is noticed everytime it is passed as a historic icon in Parramatta.

Don’t destroy it’s rich history. Preserve and restore it.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project as it currently stands, because the destruction of historic and significant items is not needed.

Why does building new require the destruction of the old?
Please explain this.

This Gov has a history of ignoring the public and destruction. Must this continue?

No-one, not one person or entity, has been able to explain why this demolition has to happen.
It seems its just bloody-mindedness and a cultural ignorance that is truly galactic in its breadth.

Government is supposed to be FOR the people.
THIS government is for the developers.
The number of outraged people due to other failed projects is huge. Do not add this to the list.

I oppose the demolition of these historic houses.

It must NOT go ahead.

Further to my email,

I am not a member of any political party or entity.

I have made NO reportable donations to a political party or entity.

Dear Sir,

Please reverse your decision to demolish the above.

Parramatta residents love their historical buildings.

Don't be persuaded by people with money and no emotional connection to Parramatta, to destroy our heritage.

Please stop the destruction of the above immediately.

Parramatta is Parramatta because of the history these important buildings
hold for the community and give the area it's special charm.

Please do not surrender to people who want to pay to demolish our history.

Dear Sir

We are writing to submit our objection to demolition of the beautiful heritage buildings, Willowgrove and St George's Terrace, in Parramatta to make way for a second Powerhouse Museum. We can't believe that these properties would be demolished to build an ugly new modern structure which will no doubt be demolished "down the track" to build another ugly building.

Please inform the current Government that while they have done some admirable things over their term of office, this would not be widely accepted by many of their voters. There appear to be many other sites in Parramatta that would be more widely accepted by the public of that district and NSW generally.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

Dear Sir,
Please note my shear disappointment that in 2020 governments and departments go about destroying our heritage because they are too lazy to use there brains, or for the sake of money or greed from pressure groups. Why with all the land available we can not have both.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because... heritage lost is lost forever and the intrinsic beauty and significance of heritage architecture is a valuable reminder to those who adjust to the ugliness of so much modern development, that all was beautiful once in the man made environment. Fast Food outlets, petrol stations Council monoliths blocked in cement, brick veneer suburban blocks are all part of the ugliness that tasteless guides inflict upon us and our history is progressively lost.
No.
sincerely,
Anna Harpley.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because this house and property should stand for generations to come so that they can observe the beauty and appreciate Australias history.

Once you knock a house down that part of the history is lost forever. There is plenty of room elsewhere to place the Powerhouse museum so please choose the other options and preserve the little bit of history we have left in Australia.

Yours sincerely,

Gail Galida.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace, Parramatta, are two Heritage Buildings, which have an iconic value, in the history of the Parramata CBD.

I implore you, as a former resident of Parramatta, to STOP and LISTEN to Councillors and the Mayor of Parramatta Council.
The Councils planning Department have a beautiful Riverside Plan for the Riversude Area.
In my opinion, the State Government must confer with the experts when it comes to local planning.
I am a Former Councillor of Blue Mtns City Council (BMCC) & feel that local Planning should be the role of Local Council.

Thank-you for this opportunity,
Sincerely,
Lynette Trindall.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because this is the destruction of Parramatta heritage. Parramatta is a city that needs to showcase its heritage with places like Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace. To destroy these buildings is an absolute disgrace. The current State Government is not looking at the bigger picture and the objections of the public to this decision. Save Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace and save Parramatta’s soul.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because.. the whole aim of the Powerhouse is to preserve Australia's history and links to our past. It is outrageous that buildings of such historic significance could be torn down and gone for ever. Surely this can be done without such destruction of our history that cannot ever be replaced.

I confirm that I have never donated to any political party.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..

Mainly because we have so little of our own heritage left. Have you ever been along the river in Brisbane as a tourist? And... been completely bored out of your mind. Why?!! Because there are no longer any beautiful old buildings left - only ugly modern ‘you’ve seen them everywhere buildings’.

ALSO.. I honestly don’t think it’s warranted at this time in our history. So much more could be utilised with the amount of money spent.

Also, it sounds like a fabulous plan to make the old hospital into a unique venue!!

Use some wise initiative...

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..
I do not want to see Willow Grove or St Georges Terrace destroyed. As a long time resident, from childhood to early adulthood, I have always loved Parramatta and its history. I don't live in the area any more but many of my family do and I still visit very regularly. I love Government House, Hambledon Cottage, Elizabeth Farm and so many more historic buildings in and around Parramatta. Too much is being destroyed in the name of development.
I believe a new museum would be of great benefit to Parramatta but not in this location and at the peril of these buildings.
I hope the objections to this development will be taken very seriously by the government.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because there are so few historic buildings left in Parramatta. Willow Grove and St Georges Terrace are from different eras but both worth preserving. I have always thought that the flood prone riverside site is not a suitable site for a museum. Now that the orignal Power House Museum is to be retained it is time for a different plan to be considered with consultation with the local community.

Your faithfully

I am writing to you to voice my objection to the proposed destruction of Willow Grove and St Georges Terrace, Parramatta. This is a decision which bears vast consequences to the preservation of historical Australia and is something that should not be pursued. I urge you to think about the importance of preserving our valuable and limited historical sites.

Dear Marcus,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because it frankly doesn’t make sense.

A cultural centre in Parramatta would be brilliant but not at the old DJ car park. It should not come at the cost of Willow Grove or St George’s Terrace.

The whole North Parramatta historical precinct could be transformed into a magnificent destination. Starting with the colonial buildings; the Female Factory, orphanage, mental hospital being linked to a future technology park and then onto a centre of excellence for Aboriginal art, culture & language and history housed in the old Parramatta Gaol.

This cultural hub weaving the Aboriginal foundation with the European settlement leading towards our mutual future will be a destination that everyone wants to come to.

People from all over will come to see such a place in their droves.

A cultural centre/museum based in the North Parramatta historical precinct just makes better sense and would be the best outcome.

Dear Mr Jennejohn,

I object to the planned demolition of Willow Grove & St Georges Terraces at Parramatta. This is a short-sighted decision and is not in the best interests of the people of Parramatta or NSW.

Our built heritage is scarce enough without demolishing what does remain for a new development, which will only benefit its developer and is a short-term benefit anyway.

I have made no political donations and have no connection with the above except as a concerned citizen who appreciates and wants to preserve the best of all greater Sydney.

Yours faithfully

Dear Marcus,
I would like to state my objection to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because of the planned destruction of willow grove and st georges terraces which are a vital part of Parramatta's heritage. I am outraged by the State government's determination to proceed with this destruction without a due and proper process which would assess the project's merits, alternative sites, and an alternative architectual vision. The plans to demolish our precious heritage for a New museum in such a rushed and dictatorial manner smells of corruption and collusion with commercial developers and vested interests. I am also deeply concerned about the political nature of this project and the lack of regard to the wishes of the Parramatta regional community. I would be grateful if you could place my objections on record.
Yours sincerely,
Nicholas Lazaredes
