On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022. WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

I am writing this submission in support of the Mount Thorley Warkworth Extension.
I am currently employed with ResCo Services Singleton as a contractor. ResCo contractors work on the Mount Thorley Warkworth mine site. I am depending on this expansion as I am the sole income earner of my family. If the extension does not go forward, the follow on means ResCo Sevices Singleton will lay people off also. I will have to leave the area and the town that I have grown up in, meaning my hard earned dollars will be spend elsewhere.

The mine not only provides jobs for all the current employees and future job seekers, but also for the extended community both within and outside the mining sector.
There would be a phenominal impact on a huge variety of businesses across the board!
I doubt the government would like to see another 1300+ applications for centrlelink.

History is recorded to be learned from not repeated and we have learned that MTW cannot stay within their consent levels at a distance of 6Km away let alone 3Km away. They are regularly over their noise levels and it is impossible for them to control the dust leaving their site now and if they were within3Km of the village of Bulga we the people of Bulga would not be able to breathe due to the amount of dust an open cut mine discharges on a windy day.
Blasting already shakes thing from walls and shelves. It is damaging houses by shaking them about enough to wake you if your sleeping after night shift and cracking ceilings and walls
You could not in good conscience allow this extention to go ahead if you do you are a heart animal. the land and environment court put a stop to it for many a good reason none of the information or modelling is correct. The governments decision to help them by modifying the SEPP is nothing short of corrupt as has been proven by ICAC recently. It is these reasons I object.

There are also many jobs within Rio Tinto Coal Australia that provide support services to MTW in addition to the 1,300 jobs. This includes three of my employees that live in Singleton and their families. As MTW is one of five mines managed by RTCA, there are many jobs in head office of Brisbane that also depend on MTW. There have been many job losses in the industry in the last 1-2 years and fewer jobs available for re-employment which is a concern.
A thorough EIS has been undertaken to identify and mitigate potential impacts. The economic benefits of the resource is significant.

If the extension was not to be approved, it would have detrimental ripple effects for local businesses, families and the wider community.
