Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

The MTW Mine not only provides stable employment for employees but everyone who works at MTW also spends money in the local community. This contributes significantly to an overall level of economic activity which the whole community benifits from. It brings people, businesses, improved services, capital infrastructure, roads shops to the area. MTW is a mining operation that generates wealth which contributes to the overall well being of the whole region. I 100% support MTW's proposal.

I support mining for all that it does for employment and the local, state and national economies. MTW should be approved as it is a long standing operation and does a great deal to support the community in the local region

To support employment in the Hunter region which is in decline. Also to support the 600 associated businesses affiliated with mining.

I support the MTW submission fully. I believe it is within the area's best interest to support this submission as the loss of another 1300 jobs and jobs from support companies on top of job losses from Drayton and the Vale mines will have a massive effect on everybody within the area. People will have no choice but to leave the area looking for work. Flooding the real estate market with houses for sale and nobody with a job to buy them and so on and so on. If you think this would not affect you well think again if this extension is not approved it will affect everybody

I am very concerned about my future at MTW if the consent is not approved. I have lived in singleton along with my wife and 2 kids for nearly 4 years and would like to stay here for the next 5-10. I can't see this happening if the mine does not have access to the West Pit extension. I have already seen the effect of the current coal price on the town with friends being made redundant. Please approve the consent.

i support the expansion as my partner would be out of a job and we would loose our house and so would many of the business in singleton that depend on the volume of people that work in the mine shop in singleton.

I have a number of family membero work and live in the Hunter Valley and the closure of this mine would force them to leave and start their lives again when they are very happy and comfortable where they are.

My husband works on site and he is the bread winner for our family. We are a hard working family that has always made things work but without the continued operation of the Warkworth mine, I'm not sure what will be in store for our family.

For my family to remain in the Hunter Valley region we strongly rely on the future of coal mining.. The region has a long and proud coal mining history and it would be disappointing if a favourable decision between all parties was unable to be reached

I would like to see the submision go through as I am concerned about my local comunities survival and employment. I have two boys employed in the menufacturing industry in singleton and this will directly efect them and a very large amount of people in my local are. I do understand concerns from other residents regarding environmental isues, but I do know from first hand as an employee of MTW that the mine management are doing every thing they can and at times at a great cost to production.

I support the extension I beleve the hunter valley can co exist with mining and the commity . MTW is a large emploer of local people and failure of the extension would have huge impact on my family and the commity.

I support the submission as I believe that the community of Singleton and the Hunter Valley will benefit from the extention being approved. The businesses in Singleton that don't directly derive their income from mining ie Resturants, hair salons, Take aways etc need the mining population in Singleton spending their income to survive.
Granting the submission will be I believe a win win situation for the NSW Government as it will benefit from royalties and Taxes which should flow on to infrastructure improvements across the State.
