Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

If these mines are shutdown, there will be no future for anyone, especially the younger generation.
Please think about this before you shut it down singleton shops and business will shut or downsize. We are only hearing complaints from in my view extreme greens, and alll avenues need too be thought of.
Please consider carefully before saying no.

i have been working at warkworth for 4 years now and i worry if the warkworth mine extension does not go ahead i may loose my job and due to other mines in the area been closed or scaled back there will be little opportunity for me to gain employment in the hunter valley and my have to leave my family and work interstate to pay my mortgage

I am a contractor to the mine and have been for the last 4 years. If this extension does not go ahead it could very easily be my job at Rio will no longer be needed. This will mean I will have to travel away for work and not be with my Family (2 girls 2y and 3y and my wife) for extended periods. This is far from what I had in mind for my life but the only other alernative would be sell our family home in paterson and rent. I have worked hard in life to get what I have tody and do not want to loose it now.

Thanks

Mining is the backbone of regional NSW, the mining industry has promoted the economic growth within the Hunter Valley. I am supportive of Mount Thorley Warkworth's continuation. An operation of it's size is critical for the Hunter, not just in the way of employment but also housing prices and supporting local businesses.

In addition to this, Coal and Allied significantly contribute to their neighbouring communities. The township of Singleton would certainly be impacted if the operation did not continue mining at it's current production levels.

Alot of jobs depend on Mount Thorley Warkworth, not only the 1300 strong workforce but also in the wider Hunter valley community. Without the continuation of this mine there will be enormous impacts throughout the community. The mine has been apart of the singleton community for more than 30 years, it would be a shame for this cease.

I support the extension of the mine. This will be a major investment in the future of the local and surrounding community.
It will benefit the current and future generations of working class families for years to come.

If the Warkwoth extension does not get approved, my job will be at risk. Losing my job would be detrimental to my family. We rely on my job st the Warkworth mine to provide for my family. My 2 year old son attends an early learning centre and also requires care for an ongoing medical issue, both of these would be compromised if my employment was to come to an end.

From a broader view, many businesses also rely on the Warkworth mine for ongoing business. Not only would my family be affected, but thousands of families and business from the Hunter Valley and surrounding areas would face negative set backs. 1300 people are employed at the mine alone, so if the mine was to shut down operations, catastrophic results would be obvious in the area with large rises in unemployment and debt.

Some of these families and businesses have been present in the local area for many generations and have contributed much to the community. Also RTCA invest and donate millions of dollars each year to local schools, businesses and charities. Surely these contributions would cease if the mine was to cease operation.

If the Warkworth extension was to go ahead, it would provide employment, security and local investment to thousands of local residents and businesses.

I support this project as my friends have worked on the project.

Rio Tinto do good things for Australia and should be supported in any way possible.

Mining has be given a branding as only for the super rich, only as of recent mind you. In previous years only 10% of projects put forward actually become a mine and this will only get worse we apply more tax. We should not be chocking the industry but rather using political policies to let it thrive and create jobs.

This extension is necessary to prevent further job loss in the Hunter. The extension also has the potential to provide future employment to those that have already lost their jobs in the Hunter mining industry. These jobs help support Hunter families and the flow on effect helps support jobs in the retail and industrial sectors of mining communities.

To whom it may concern,

The future development of warkworth is extremely important for the people in the hunter. Job shortages and mine closures are rife throughout the valley.
I am sure agreement can be achieved. Without this approval, it will create more job shortages with surrounding industry and supportive infrastructure suffering as a result.

In my opinion if this extension is not voted up,not only will 1300 employees loose their jobs but there are so many large and small businesses which depend on the mines for their livelyhood. These businesses are a vital part of the mines and the community.

This needs to happen,

the Hunter valley coal industry is at a time when several big open cuts are seeking approval of extensions to their mining leases.Mining has been the life blood of the Hunter Valley for a very long time, housing prices reflect this, job oppertunities as well, there is massive economic flow on effect from the coal industry.
I support this extension
