On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022. WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

In addition to this, Coal and Allied significantly contribute to their neighbouring communities. The township of Singleton would certainly be impacted if the operation did not continue mining at it's current production levels.

From a broader view, many businesses also rely on the Warkworth mine for ongoing business. Not only would my family be affected, but thousands of families and business from the Hunter Valley and surrounding areas would face negative set backs. 1300 people are employed at the mine alone, so if the mine was to shut down operations, catastrophic results would be obvious in the area with large rises in unemployment and debt.
Some of these families and businesses have been present in the local area for many generations and have contributed much to the community. Also RTCA invest and donate millions of dollars each year to local schools, businesses and charities. Surely these contributions would cease if the mine was to cease operation.
If the Warkworth extension was to go ahead, it would provide employment, security and local investment to thousands of local residents and businesses.

Rio Tinto do good things for Australia and should be supported in any way possible.
Mining has be given a branding as only for the super rich, only as of recent mind you. In previous years only 10% of projects put forward actually become a mine and this will only get worse we apply more tax. We should not be chocking the industry but rather using political policies to let it thrive and create jobs.

The future development of warkworth is extremely important for the people in the hunter. Job shortages and mine closures are rife throughout the valley.
I am sure agreement can be achieved. Without this approval, it will create more job shortages with surrounding industry and supportive infrastructure suffering as a result.

the Hunter valley coal industry is at a time when several big open cuts are seeking approval of extensions to their mining leases.Mining has been the life blood of the Hunter Valley for a very long time, housing prices reflect this, job oppertunities as well, there is massive economic flow on effect from the coal industry.
I support this extension
