Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

I fully support the mining of valuable resources in NSW and at the MTW mine, I support any decision they intend to make that offers either more jobs or offers safety for those who are already employed by the mine. As a member of a mining community myself, it would be both a step backward into the wrong direction and sad if anybody were to lose their job because the MTW mine could no longer continue or expand their operations. I can assure you that this is my un-bias opinion, as I myself do not work at the MTW mine, but I feel that in the community I live in, a lot of people would suffer if they were to lose their job because local mine could not continue its operations

i think the submission should go ahead to keep the jobs of every one and their family members from this mine cause if it closes their are alot more then just the mine workers who loses out it also means all the other jobs that get support from this mine through bussinesses that will lose out aswell plus the community will lose out from the money the mine puts into the surronding comminties also

* It could easily be HVO where I work and rely on the work.
* I believe that MTW will use the land efficiently and reinstate the land back to usfull agricultral land because at present the land does not have very productive pasture.
* Part of Coal & Allied's strength is that we operate three mining complexes in close proximity. The loss of one site makes it that much harder for the other two to operate efficiently.
* An overwhelming concern for the welfare of the 1300 employees, plus the many suppliers , that rely on MTW for their livelihood

These extensions play in integral part in ensuring the Hunter continues to thrive and expand. More job losses to the area creates more strain both financially and emotionally on families
I support this 100%

I support the submittion lodged by Warkworth Mining to extend the mine, I have been the industry for apporx 15 years and seen some ups and downs in the region, but the current climate of all industry in Australia is very poor, to not extend the lease and loose the jobs would be great lose the region and the flow on effect to other industries would be devastating.
The hunter area is experiencing a very low slump and job loses are well out numbering employment.
I have worked as a contractor at Warkworth some years ago and have seen the lengths the mine has gone to to support its local community and to run the mine above all standards and regulations.

I am proud to have worked at Mount Thorley Warkworth for three years. It was more than a job for me, it was a development of life skills for a young recent university graduate. I have a huge amount of respect for the operation and the many talented people who work together in a safe and environmentally respectful manner. MTW is a real showcase of world-class mining as well as the technology, expertise and dedication that accompanies it.

My wife works at MTW and helps support our family of five. We are currently building in the Singleton area and are employing a local builder who is employing several tradesmen for the duration of the build.

My children attend local childcare facilities, we are active users of local services such as swim, gym and tennis courts, we shop locally, go to the cinemas and eat out or get takeaway often (too often). Without my wifes role these things become extras that we couldn't afford on top of a locally spent debt. This will make all these businesses less vaible.

The local businesses will be much less viable with 1300 similar stories.

I have extreme respect for Mount Thorley Warkworth and the employees that work there. This mine gives back to the local community directly and indirectly. It is a world class operation and I hope to see it continue to grow and prosper.

I support the extension ot the Warkworth lease due to the severe impact it's non-approval would have upon the local community in the potential loss of 1300 jobs directly, and many many more through suppliers and contracting companies. With out Mining in the area the local economy would be devestated. The largest side effect from the mining is noise and dust, of which the mine works with those effected to protect their health and property, or aqucuires the property allowing the resident to move elsewhere. Without the Warkworth extension I believe it would also put other Coal and Allied mines in jepordy as economies of scale could then no longer be maintained, risking even more jobs and putting more families ar risk.

I support the MTW extension application. The flow-on effects of this project supports the wider community and state in general. As an employee of the coal industry, I see the effort expended to manage the impact of our industry on the environment and our nieghbours and believe any concerns can be managed through good consultation and co-operation.

The Warkworth continuation is vital for not only the 1300 people involved but the wider community and supporting businesses. Since the down turn in the industry Singleton has gone from a area where there was not enough housing for rent or sale to an area which is flooded with rental and ownership opportunities. This affects everyone down to the local store of which at least 4 have closed in the last 6 months leaving another 20 families out of work. This is only from a down turn. I can only imagine what 1300 families out of work will do to Singleton and Surrounding communities like Muswellbrook, Denman, Scone and will affect as far as Gosford and Newcastle areas.
The local sporting clubs rely on companies like MTW to for sponsorship, ensuring the kids have a safe environment in which to enjoy their junior sporting careers. A loss of those support will be devastating for all involved.
