I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because.. I find it astounding that a history is being destroyed forever to build a museum dedicated to history.
This act of vandalism should not go ahead.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because the two heritage sites of Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace must be preserved.
A new museum should not be built at the expense of Parramatta’s heritage.

There is a simple solution. A three point plan .

Keep the Powerhouse Museum at Ultimo
Create a brilliant Museum and cultural destination at historic Cumberland Hospital Precinct in North Parramatta. (Read more here)
Save historic Willow Grove & St Georges Terraces, and realise the existing Parramatta Council vision for a public square alongside the river

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because Willow Grove and St Georges Terrace are unique and highly important buildings in the Parramatta CBD and their loss would have a significant impact on the community's connection with heritage.

These buildings belong to everyone in NSW and Australia.

There is a very simple solution, which I implore Planning NSW and the NSW State government to implement immediately.

This three point plan involves:

1. Keep the Powerhouse Museum at Ultimo

2. Create a brilliant Museum and cultural destination at historic Cumberland Hospital Precinct in North Parramatta.

3. Save historic Willow Grove & St Georges Terraces, and realise the existing Parramatta Council vision for a public square alongside the river.

This plan would also generate long term jobs not only in construction but also in all the professions related to museums, history, conservation and more.

This plan would also support domestic and international tourism.

Please note I have not made any political donations.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because the destruction of the historic houses Willow Grove and St George's Terrace would be tragic. I object to the current plans for Powerhouse Parramatta project because once again our reckless Government's plans include sacrificing irreplaceable heritage buildings, this time being Willow Grove and the St Georges Terraces, to build new buildings to display our history! and overdevelop the area with residential housing.

How disturbing this is to have the elected NSW Government, prepared to act as vandals with these heritage buildings and ignore the cultural heritage of Australians. We were angry and perplexed when the NSW Government continued to say they were proceeding with the move of the Powerhouse museum to Parramatta. A destructive and very ill thought out idea, bereft of any common sense. However at the last minute the NSW Government realised the foolishness of this plan. Thank goodness sanity prevailed, and a decision was made to leave the Powerhouse museum at Ultimo.

However it seems this was only because the move had generated enough widespread disquiet to affect the Government electorally. The Government and Gladys Berjiklian seem not care about Australia's heritage & have no actual appreciation of the value of Willow Grove and the St Georges Terraces in preserving the history of Australian colonial life. I am very interested in the history of my country and currently am a committee member for the Gerringong District Historical Society. My family on both sides were free settler pioneers. They settled in places like Mt Magnet and Geraldton in W.A. and Charleville and Cunnamulla in Qld. and Zeehan and Launceston in Tas. in the early 1800s through to the early 1900s. They had to build everything where ever they went. They did not arrive to an Australia with paved roads, hospitals, schools, sewerage and smart shops! My great, great grandfather died in hospital in Parramatta and is buried out there.

I think the idea of developing a heritage precinct shows great vision. Build a unique new Museum at the historic Cumberland Hospital site, North Parramatta and retain the other buildings of historical significance. Incorporating parkland along the riverside would create a brilliant Museum site and cultural destination. A cultural precinct for the Western Sydney Community to be truly proud of. Let us see whether the NSW Government can show it cares for the history of the early Australia settlement and whether it can plan for an amazing world class cultural area

If you are interested in the power house museum why are you destroying Parramatta heritage. The Powerhouse museum embraces Australian heritage. What double standards.

I am writing to save Willow Grove in Parramatta - part of Greater Western Sydney's heritage.

Willow Grove and St Georges Terrace are one of a kind in the Parramatta CBD and their lose would have a significant impact on the community's connection with heritage.

Instead of the current proposal, create the museum and a cultural destination at historic Cumberland Hospital Precinct in North Parramatta.

Thanks and regards,

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because. . I believe the Historic Homes should be kept for the people of Parramatta to enjoy as part of the history of our area.

Keep the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and use the old hospital site as a new museum for Parramatta. Parramatta is part of the very early settlements in Australia and must have much to show in a museum.

I have my great grandmother's diary from the 1880's describing het trip along the Parramatta River , she was travelling to Parramatta for a job interview for a Nursing position so this area and it's history mean a lot to our family.

To demolish history to build a museum to show history seems incredibly silly to me.

Please reconsider your plans for this area along the river.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because it seems a waste of money and of greater benefit to developers rather than the public. Moreover, destroying Willow Grove in the process is wanton destruction. If Willow Grove is demolished this indicates heritage listing of properties is meaningless. A number of elderly people living in Parramatta have told me of the large number of amazing beautiful old buildings that once existed in and around central Parramatta. Surely, we can at least protect the remnants of this once proud heritage.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because.. the two properties you are going to pull down are beautiful heritage properties too precious to get rid of. There are other places to put the Parramatta Powerhouse, pleas consider these, we have lost too much of our heritage already, please, not these.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because knocking down buildings that are history is ridiculous. These buildings should be heritage listed and can not be knocked down for this. Please take into account our history, your history. These buildings are important to protect. If we keep knocking down all the buildings that have significance, what will we be left with? Only stories you can read about, no where you can actually visit to step back in time. Please consider the other options that the public has presented to you.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..

Parramatta is the second oldest settlement in Australia ... so much history but yet this govt feels that it is ok to destroy it !!!!

Willowgrove & the Terraces are a beautiful part of the city & should be valued & restored not demolished to make way for an ugly museum that should be left where it already is

DO NOT DEMOLISH OUR HISTORY !!!!!

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project in its current form because these building are of significant heritage and should be saved. There are other locations in the area to use for another museum. Why demolish a living history /site and replace with brought in artifacts.
Shame on you . Once gone they are gone forever!!!

Please don’t demolish Willow Grove and the St George’s Terraces. Australia doesn’t have many historic buildings and to demolish these buildings to erect a museum to celebrate the past seems to me to be the height of idiocy. Could these buildings not be preserved and incorporated into the new museum? Alternatively the female factory and Parramatta goal could be turned into a precinct dedicated to Parramatta’s place in history.

I do not object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project as such, but I strongly object to the demolition of two valuable heritage buildings to facilitate the building of a modern structure to house historical artefacts.

Willow Grove & St George’s Terrace should be preserved as part of this project. I am absolutely gobsmacked about the wanton destruction of precious historical sites & buildings that has thus far occurred in NSW and would sincerely urge that historical significance be given higher priority in planning decisions.

I am not a member nor donor of any political party, I am simply an eighth generation Australian who cares very much about what’s left of our heritage.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..we have already lost so much of our very young (in terms of other countries) heritage and to demolish these significant sites would only make the situation worse.

Also building a Powerhouse at Parramatta on the site proposed is not a sensible solution as it is in a place that regularly floods in heavy rain.

Please rethink the planning of this development and keep our heritage alive!

I am writing to object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project, and the demolition of Willow Grove and St Georges Terrace properties. These properties have significant historical value, and it is vital that they be saved.

There are many spaces in Parramatta that could be used for the Powerhouse Project that don't require the demolition of our heritage.

Regards,

Madeleine Thomas
