Polycarbonate roofing is available in a wide range of colours and is available in single or double-skin/multiwall construction. Fibreglass is considered equivalent to polycarbonate.
Manufacturers can provide the Shading Coefficient (similar to Solar Heat Gain Coefficient but calculated in a different way) for their products.
If you select a more transparent polycarbonate roof with a Shading Coefficient more than 0.4 then BASIX requires you to install shading. BASIX recognises the following types of shading:
- external fixed awning or blind;
- external adjustable awning or blind;
- external fixed louvre; and
- external adjustable louvre.
