I started to work for Warkworth mine when it started in April 1981 and I was told the Warkworth Mine Lease had enough coal reserves to last over one hundred years and while the ownership of the mine has changed the lease remained and the mining operations would see out my working life.
This allowed for forward planning of our family and the security that of knowing you could support a family .
During my working life due to hard work and study I have progressed to a leadership role where I support many less fortunate than myself.
Throughout my working life at Mount Thorley Warkworth mine, the mine has remained the basic element that supported a single developing family to exist by provide finance to sustain our family The amount of revenue that has been injected into the hunter valley due to mining has allowed for my children to gain employment in other jobs that may not exist otherwise.
The impact of downsizing or closure of MTW would have effects on our entire family. Firstly the effect on myself and my wife would be that we were not supported for all of my working life and also the revenue created by MTW would no longer flow on to the community which is in turn supports my children's employment.
The NSW Planning has procrastinated over MTW development applications for some four years now which has caused uncertainty to thousands of affected Australian workers as well as the flow on effects which causes uncertainty in the supporting mining industries.
You do not have to write a short story like me just say YES to MTW 's Development Application and many Australians will be taken from four years of uncertaintyback to families and business making positive plans for their future

This will greatly effect my business and will determine whether I can continue to provide long term full time employment to 10+ workers or not.
I have worked with Coal & Allied - Rio Tinto for over 20 years and have witnessed how well they look after the environment.
I fully support the development of Warkworth.

MTW have always been a Hunter Valley provider, both for the community and for local businesses. Without this Mine in operation, or with significantly reduced operations, there will be major ramifications for not only the people employed at the site, but many families, businesses and livelihoods will certainly be affected. Those who oppose the expansion have every right to effect this protest, however the personal cost to both the community and to the individuals that will be affected, has to be looked at in a sensible light, to understand that this expansion is not only the right thing for the community, but also is only fair to the personnel whose livelihoods will be effected in such a disastrous manner, if this expansion is refused.

Myself and my family including my three young children rely on this extension for my husbands employment.
If this extension does not go through it won't only be a massive blow to the 1300 employee at MTW but it will have a flow on effect though the hunter valley community.

I am currently employed with sub zero which is a contracting company that relies on the hunter valley mining industry, including MTW.
This will set a precedence if this submission does not pass and will be a massive flow on affect through hunter valley mining.

I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine for 23 years and tworked in the mining industry for 33 years. In that time I have progressed through in the industry from a Mobile Equipment Operator to a Mining Supervisor.
Thousands of people depend on the mining industry in the Hunter Valley. 1300 full time people are employed at Mount Thorely Warkworth Mine, and many other businesses supply to the mine. If the Warkworth Modification does not get approved I am worried what this will mean for local jobs and investment across the NSW mining industry.

I support Coal and Allied's Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.
I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine for 5 years and 11 years in the mining industry. If I was too loss my job due to the Modification not going through I am essentially unskilled labour. I do not have a career to fall back on and would probably have to leave the area to find employment at another mine to be able to pay my mortgage.
Mount Thorley Warkworth provides a stable income for 1300 full time employees in the Hunter Valley and the operation of the mine reaches into many other businesses that supply MTW. Thousands of people depend on this mine and if production was to drop, the result could be devastating.

My husband works at MTW and seeing the local businesses and local infrastructure already feeling the pinch of the current downturn in the industry, I think not granting the expantion will have enormous impact on the local community. It will also have major repocussions for our family. I understand the environmental impacts a decission like this can have, but I believe that with this only to extend the life of the mine, not rapidly expand like many other operations are aiming for, that it can be mined sustainably.
