This submission supports the extension of mining at Mount Thorley Warkworth. This extension is vital to not only the individuals that are directly employed by the operation but includes suppliers, other contractors and the wider community. In the limited amount of time I have lived in this community I have observed the detrimental effect of a tough financial climate and believe that a negative decision could only compound this. If the extension goes ahead that will create stability for a large amount of individuals and their families at a time where certainty is quite uncommon.

I urge you to consider the ramifications of this extension if it does not go ahead and the consequences on the Hunter community as a whole.

If mt thorley warkworth were unsuccessful in getting its extension it would impact myself massively. im 25 years old and im currently building a house with my partner who also works here at MTW. We would both be without jobs and would struggle to meet our repeyments and our future would be in tatters, it would delay our chance to start our lives together and to start a family.

I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth for 2years. If this Warkworth Modification was not to go through I would probably lose my job. This impact your family, quality of life and would probably have to leave the area to gain other employment.

I support the modifcations to the Warkworth Mine Development Consent.

After reviewing the attached Environemntal Assessment I am convinced that Rio Tinto will undertake the proposed modification sin an environmentally responsible manner, and that they will endeavour to minimise all impacts on the local community.

I'm a plant operator at MTW i have worked here for five and a half years my family and i depend on this extension for our future. It would impact my income and I wouldn't be able to pay my mortgage. I fear my for my job security if the Warkworth Modification does not go through.

I work at Mount Thorley Warkworth and have lived in the Singleton /Maitland area for 16 years. The prosperity of this area of the Hunter Valley is obvious, and this prosperity is all due to coal mining. Mining is managed in a responsible manner these days. Issues with dust and noise are treated seriously, with operations been shutdown if there are any issues with dust or noise. This application will provide the mine with time to plan the future.

The Hunter Valley depends on mining.

I've been working at MTW and living in the area for the past 4yrs. The opportunities and life style that working at MTW provide are what drew me the the Hunter valley 4 years ago. I love working at MTW and I love living in the Hunter. If my job isn't secure I can not commit to investing in the local area. I would be forced to relocate and set up elsewhere.

Coal & Allied emloyees a large number of employee's on the MTW site and supports a large number of companies in the local and surronding area's . I feel that the benifits for both employees and the community are high if the consent was to be granted ,i feel that the community would loose out if the consent was rejected , as Coal & Allied supprt many non profit community projects through out the local government area.
