I believe this Warkworth modification shall have a positive impact on the local community as it will secure the jobs of MTW employees, contactors and all companies that are involved the MTW venture.
We work very hard to reduce our dust and noise emissions, to lessen our impact on the local community. Believe me when i say everyone on this site does in fact care about our immediate neighbours, and we would like to continue our relationship in the area for the foreseeable future.
Thankyou for your consideration in this matter.

had been contracting in hunter valley mines for about 13yrs before finally being accepted into mtw and thought that I had found a place to spend the rest of my working life here.It was stated when I started that we had plenty of land left to mine which would see out my career at mtw.As the mining boom became stronger there were plenty of other oppunities avalible at other sites ,but as i thought we had a great future here I thought that it was a better choice to stay at mtw .but now this choice may be already be made for me?

i have worked at mtw for two years 18 months of that time i spent traveling back and forth from tamworth a three hour trip, 6 Months ago myself and the family sold up and movedto greta so we could be closer to work. in doing so we put all our eggs into one basket, all our livelyhoods depend on mtw getting this extention! House pricess in the hunter valley are so much more expensive than tamworth so after selling our home we also had to put up our life saving to come up with the deposit to buy in the hunter so our livelyhood depends on the income that im currently recieving anything less wood be devastating myself and my family absulutly depend upon mtw getting this extention

i hope for the extension to be approved in the near future for not only my self and my family but for the realism that the non approval will be very detrimental to not only singleton and surrouns but to the greater hunter valley businesses and families

I have been working for Coal & Allied ( Mt Thorley Warkworth ) for the past 10yrs. Living locally & being a single mother of 2 sons & paying a mortgage , losing my job here would devestating... Where i'm situated in Singleton , i'm only 1.5kms from Campberwell Coal , it has no effect what so ever re: noise . My mother & stepfather live at Milbrovale , I've asked them on many occasions if the mine site has any impact on them, which they've said that it doesn't bother them at all. I know from speaking to a few locals that live in Bulga & surrounds the impact on them is very minimal, it is only a small group that does have a coo going, most people that don't work in the surronding area are the ones opposing it. Job security is very crucial in my situation & also the future for my sons. I think the impact on the area would be devestating. I think it is the survival of alot of the surrounding townships in the area. Thanks for your time , I hope that all this will come into consideration when making the decision.

I am currently employed at Mt Thorley/Warkworth and am very concerned about my families financial future if this extention is not approved.
Not only will my family be affected but also the financial security of the Hunter Valley as alot of the townships in the area rely on the income of miners and their families who spend most of their wages in the area.
I have been employed at Mt Thorley/Warkworth for just over 2 years but am previously from an environmental background who specialised in revegetation and regeneration and am very impressed with how Coal and Allied manage their pit in respect to the environmental impact caused by mining.
I fully support the extention of MT Thorley/Warkworth as I believe it is essential for our Australian economy

I have been employed at Mount Thorley Warkworth for two years and worked in the industry for 14 years prior as a contractor . This extension if it gets knocked back it will put strain on my family as i have gone to not seeing my children as i worked seven days a week to being able to spend quality time and watch them grow.

My husband has worked at the Mt Thorley Warkworth mine for the past two years.
If the NSW Government declines this application, it would put hundreds of jobs within the mine in jeopardy.
His ongoing employment at this mine provides our family with financial security and stability. As the primary provider for our family, we are dependant on his employment at the mine. His unemployment would result in our financial hardship.

Whilst i understand that the Government needs to consider all aspects in regards to the application, i ask that they provide special consideration to the health benefits of work on the persons employed at the mine, their families and the community.
I reference the Australiasian Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine Position Statement: Realising the Health Benefits of Work - a position statement supported by the NSW Government. This document outlines that 'unemployment has a significant negative impact on physical health and mental health and results in increased mortality rates.'

I have been employed by MTW for the past 26 yrs and it has supported myself and family and also given both my boys the opportunity to work for coal & allied and secure their own homes and start families with peace of mind of a secure future and now with the uncertanty comes worry and stress which. Hopefully the approval will be granted and myself, my family and the community that depends on our survival can rest with ease of a night and concetrate on their future and families.

i have worked at mt thorley warkworth for 3 years now and wish to continue for another 20. I have not long lost my house to the M1 freeway extension and would be devistated to lose my job as well. I have seen the impacts on surrounding towns in area due to downturn in industry and if this mine were to shut it would turn theses towns into ghost towns, and have high unemployment

Dear Minister,

I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.

Two and a half years ago, my fiance was provided a contract to work for Coal & Allied at Mount Thorley Warkworth. I have also been working for Coal & Allied for 2 years. Both our roles are at risk if this modification doesnt go ahead.

We were so excited to move from Western Australia to Singleton NSW. We had the intention to live in Singleton long term. However this seems to be jeopardised.

We purchased a house and have done extensive renovations. We have supported local companies throughout our renovations and purchasing furniture, shopping, gym memberships, vehicle services, etc.

We dont want to leave Singleton, but if we both loose our jobs then we will be forced to.
Mount Thorley Warkworth provides a stable income for over 1,300 full time employees in the Hunter Valley. And the operation of the mine reaches into many other businesses that supply MTW. Thousands of people depend on this mine and if production was to drop, the result could be devastating.

We need certainty. We've been wondering what the future holds now for four years. If this minor modification to an existing, 30 year old mine does not get approved, I am worried about what this will mean for local jobs and investment across the NSW mining industry.

Please accept this submission in support of the Warkworth Modification.

i feel that the warkworth mine should be allowed the extension proposed as it would benefit the township of singleton and many of the businesses warkworth uses to run their operation.

There are a lot of the Bulga community against the mine but they forget that the mine was here long before they were and it was their choice to live in a mining township.

the mine has pumped $600 million into the Australian economy by using more than 1000 businesses. You wonder what would happen to these businesses especially local ones if the mine wasn't granted the expansion. The singleton township would suffer the most and eventually putting a lot of shops out of business.

I feel it would be best for the mine to get the go ahead and i hope it does for the whole of singleton and its future

I think it is important for the extension to go ahead with approval, it would keep people in a job when it is needed most in this current climate where people are struggling and for me with a family of 6 including 4 young kids it is a necessaty. But mt thorley warkworth provides a lot of funds to the local community in different ways so i cannot see how this extension could be such an issue.

Dear Minister,

I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.

I have worked at the MTW mine for just over 12 months as a maintenace planner. I have a lot of friends who rely on the mine both directly and indirectly for their employment.

If the mine was forced to close or downsize it would have a large impact on me personally as I would be faced with the possibility of losing my position which is one which i thoroughly enjoy and my ability to provide for my young family.

I have been a full time employee with coal and allied for 5 years ..I really enjoy my job and am really concerned at the prospect of becoming unemployed which will have huge impacts on my family. This company provides my family with a great lifestyle..I have four children and working this roster creates awesome oppurtunity for me to maintain work life balance. If something were to happen and i became retrenched i would still have to work and very possibly move away and or travel long hours to gain employment..The reality of this has already affected my family as my husband was employed by coal and allied but has since left due to the uncertainty of job security within our minesite. The other factor has of the flow on effect within the singleton community has already started to happen. We are seeing unemployment increasing already as businesses are feeling the pressure of the not recieving work from our site anymore..
