Hi
I have taken sometime to voice my support for the mount Thorley warkworth expansion. How this expansion affect me is that I am a contractor at this mine. The approval of this expansion almost guaranties 2 year plus of employment. Due to the current climate in the hunter valley coal industry and lack of job vacancies without this expansion I would be force to change industries or made to spend long periods of time away from my 11 month old son, 3 year old daughter and my wife.
Thanks for taking the time to read

Hi
This expansion is vital for my husband to maintain employment at MTW. As we have a very young family I fear without this expansion he may have to drive further or even fly to work which in return would mean less time with the family.

I do not support the extension of Mount Thorley warkworth coal mine due to the noise, dust and lights of a night time this is a problem 24 hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.I have been a plant operator at this mine for 30 years and know and understand what happens there this mine does not care about what happens around them and when this mine is fined for a breach it is vert petty always about the $3000 fine for dust or noise a laughable matter at the pit. I work a 7 day rotating roster my rostered day of is usually for quality time from the job but not so if you live in Bulga with the constant roar of the mine. We also drink the water we have to catch of the roof of the house not real nice when you see what comes of our roof and is caught in our tank. Ground vibrations from shots fired in the pit rattles the house we don't really know what damage is done until we find it some time later. Also asthma is high in the valley and it all comes back to air born dust.Lastly property prices are at a low around any mine this place is no different. We have to remember this is a discrimative muiltinational company we are dealing with and will not be beaten at any cost.

I make a personal and business submission to have the mine extended because firstly, with the cutbacks so far since workers have lost jobs (permanent, casual and contractors) my business has closed down in May of this year. I could not continue to run my shop and it was not fair. I would certainly hate for more businesses to suffer the way I have since closing my shop. Secondly I am 53 years of age and since then have had a really hard time trying to find a job. On talking to people around Singleton, Muswellbrook and Scone I have found a lot of people in the same boat as me. This cannot continue. My partner has a job in the mines and if he lost his job he would lose his home. Please have some commonsense when it comes to people's lives.

This extension is critical not only for those working onsite and their families both permanent employees and contractors. It is just as important for those working for businesses that supply to this mine.
I have family members working both in the Hunter Valley and Newcastle. The impact for these families is negative, some have been laid off and are looking for work, and for others their hours have been cut back forcing them to look for alternate work to support their families.
This mine has a huge impact that spans further than just Singleton and the surrounding areas.
Its time for the those involved in this approval process to use common sense and approve this before more families are affected.

This extension needs to be approved and implemented. I have family working in the mining area around Singleton and for the mining extension not to go ahead, results in negative impacts on their employment situation. I have had family members whose hours of employment have been reduced significantly as there is a downturn in the business. I have other family members who are at risk of losing their jobs if the extension is not approved. This would mean the sole income earners of these families would be without an income.
This extension does not just impact the Singleton area. It impacts numerous people, working in the mines themselves, or in a business associated with the mining industry.

If my husbands expansion does not go through the most likely outcome is that he will be fired, as a mother of 2 with a mortgage to pay the most likely outcome is that we will have to sell up. please listen to us and help this go through to give all of our families some hope, that's all we seem to be living on lately.

I am in favour of the mine extention, and the other mine extensions that are on the table in this valley,it is pertenent to the livelyhood of so many people,as well as the country. The "pro's" outway the "cons",on so many levels.

I have been an operator at Mt Thorley for the last 3 years. My family and I moved over here from interstate for the position at Mt Thorley Warkworth. We bought a block of land and we have built our dream home. Our girls go to a great school here in the Hunter Valley. The extension that MTW is applying for is going to affect us greatly, currently my wife and I are sweating on this decission as it is going to impact us not only financialy but emotionally as well.

There is around 1300 hundred people that work at MTW that this will affect and also the many local buisness's that deal with MTW and also the Local places that we go and eat and shop.

I have worked at mtw for 2 years after relocating from wetern australia to be closer to my family.I would like to buy a property in the area but the uncerteny of not having a job is stopping me from doing so. if job losses happen i will have to move back to wa and start again. I would like to stay in the area to be close to my family but that would not be possible if there are job losses. Regardless what local people say about mining in the hunter the people who live and work here spend money here.If jobs start to go in the hunter so will people and money,so towns and local infrastructure will suffer.

Hello there, my Dad currently works out at Mount Thorley Warkworth mine. My family moved over here from interstate for my Dads job at the mine. I started at a new school here and my Dad and Mum built a new house here in the Hunter Valley.
We need the extension to go through as without it we may be forced to relocate back interstate and sell our new home.
Not only us but there are plenty of people who will loose thier jobs and that will impact the community.
Please let this go through so my Dad can still work at the mine and we wont have to move.

I have currently worked at RTCA MTW site for over eight years now. As i arrived on site straight out of high school, outside of this business i have no job qualifications and therefore find it very important that this extention gets approval as i see a long future working for this company.

I am currently a contractor at Mount Thorley Warkworth. I live in the local area. Failure to get the extension it will impact on my family as there are 3 people who are reliant on my income and we will be forced to move. I have lived here for 23 years and it will be sad to leave the area. Local sporting teams relie on funding and support from our mine and its employees. Loss of jobs means loss of fundings and of community numbers.

I am an equipment operator at MTW and have been for the last 5 years, Securing the future of operations at MTW is important not only to myself but my family. employment at is MTW povides the means to live the lifestyle we choose and to raise and provide for my family.

Without approval for mining to continue in the long term at MTW i could be made renundant, forced to relocate and would most definitely have a detrimental effect both financially and personally on my family.

securing the long term future is as important to the hunter as it is to individuals like myself.
