On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022. WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

Our parent company has a great track record with enviromental management and MTW should be allowed to access further regions of its lease without impacting its neighbours.
There is actually local neighbours in favour of the expansion but a small minority and the media are making a lot of noise to stop the expansion, basically this is happening because of their anti mining mindsets. I find this wrong that a few adjitators can generate a movement outside and inside of our region that could potentially close one of our local businesses that is a major employer with many of businesses relying on its operation. If the expansion is rejected then it will have a very bad effect on our local economy.

I personally think it is selfish of the people who are opposing our extension as the people "affected" by it is far outweighed by the people it would affect if it was to not go through. Not only the people who work at the mine, but all associated businesses, many in the local town of Singleton.
