On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022. WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

After working in the mining industry for the last 14 years as a contractor this job was my first permanent position with an actual mining company and it was and is the job I thought would take me through to retirement so we as a family put all our eggs in one basket. Everything depends on MTW getting this Continuation. I speak to work colleges on a daily basis and we are all in the same boat witch says to me the affects this will have across the Hunter will be very wide spread and will affect a lot of lives from state, federal and local governments right down to local business and the families that live and support the communities

Our business is heavily involved in the Coal Handling Preparation Plant maintenance and this approval, if unsuccessful could mean the loss of up to 3 positions within the company I work of along with the thousands of other contracting staff which help support this mine.

I am currently working as a contractor at MTW and it is the main source of income for my Wife and two young children.
It is common knowledge that there is a decline in work oppertunities in the Hunter Valley due to the drop in coal price which has effected the mining industry.
If the extension at MTW does not go ahead it will have personal impact on my family forcing me to seek employment elsewhere.
My submission is to support the expansion operation at Mount Thorley Warkworth.

I am a father in a family of three (soon to be four). My family depends on my income to pay our mortgage, food and bills. My wife works part time but as we are expecting more children she will stop work, making my income absolutely essential.
If the extension isn't approved my position, I believe, will be one of the first to go, making my family's future a lot harder. Solid employment is hard to find at present and I'm extremely worried about what could happen if I'm unemployed.
