Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

I Fully support the Warkworth Mt Thorley extention, for continued employment, and a better quality of life for my family, and especially for my childrens future. To me it means a secure income, and there for a more relaxed inviroment at home, and the ability to plan for the future.

it would be outrageous too not approve the extension for mtw. joel fitzgiggon recently said there is nothing the government can do to prevent job losses in the mining industry due to the aussie dollar. this is bullshit, they can approve extensions and keep mines open and the thousands of jobs that go with it

This extension, like many others, effects everyone, not just those who directly work at the sites, If this does not go through, the roll on effect will be enormous, job losses will be in the hundreds, maybe thousands, who will pay for expenses with normal day to day living for these families, and for he future.

This extension is vital to the continued livelihood of not only my family but all of the families currently employed at the mine and also the supplier is which the mine buys off. it is imperative that we get a positive outcome to help and support the upper hunter economy which is already feeling the downturn of the mining industry. I understand that there are people that oppose this but I believe the positives outweigh the negatives.

I have worked for Rio Tinto all my life. I have spent the last 7 years at MTW and would like to continue working here. The amount of things MTW does for the Hunter Valley would be greatly missed if they are to close. My partner and i are expecting our first baby in December, the closing of MTW is putting stress on myself and my partner as there is so many unknowns to us now.

Having mining done by company's like Rio Tinto ensures the local community extract the maximum value from those resources. Mining development leads to better health and education services, in addition to improved local infrastructure.

Our families five members rely on this continuation, my husband works at MTW and 100 percent of our household income comes from MTW. If this project is not approved and my husband is made redundant, we will write off the Hunter Valley and move to Western Australia.

I have worked in mining for 20 years, this country was built on mining, My son currently works at MTW, for a mine to close that has so many workers and uses so many local businesses that generates so many jobs it makes no sence!

ARA Electrical & Engineering Services would like to support the expansion project, it is projects like this and others in the mining industry that enables companies like ours to maintain continued support for construction and maintenance services required by mining clients, without this approval many support companies will struggle to survive in an already struggling climate

I am strongly in favor of the Mount/Thorley Warkworth extension. This organisation provides employment for many workers and contractors within the area. It also provides security to the many businesses that feed of it. The mine has operated in this area for many years. It wouldnt make sense to ramp down or stop the operation after all the infrastrucutre and good environmental measures have already been put in place.
