Enforcements

On 22 June 2023, NSW Planning issued an Official Caution to Warkworth Mining Ltd (WML) for exceeded noise impact assessment criteria at three noise monitoring locations for the Warkworth Continuation Project on 20 July 2022.  WML had failed to implement their approved Noise Management Plan on the night of 20 July 2022 in the lead up to the exceedances. WML have since implemented measures to ensure compliance with their management plan and NSW Planningcontinues to monitor WML's noise reporting data and implementation of the NMP.

I will be one of the 1300 to lose my job so the extension approval is very important to me and my family.

i think it is viable for the mt/mtw extension to be approved as the jobs are scarce in the hunter and will have to move interstate to keep the bills paid.also put money back in to the singleton and hunter area

I support the continuation of the Warkworth extension. Plenty of people rely on Mount Thorley Warkworth mine for their livelihood including 1300 workers, their families and 600 NSW businesses. Coal & Allied has contributed an enormous amount to the Hunter Valley region and wants to continue to do so for many years to come.

I have never worked in the mining industry but if this project is not re-approved I will likely have to resign my job because my family will be forced to leave the Hunter so my husband can find another job.
I have lived and worked in the Hunter for over 20 years. This is my children's home. This project is important not just for the mine workers - it has potentially catastrophic implications for families like mine and many of my friends in the local community.

I strongly support the expansion of the Warkworth Mine.
NSW has tipped the scales too much in favour of environmental regulation as compared to the economic and social benefits that mining provides to our local community.
There is just too much to lose if the Warkworth Mine expansion were to be denied.
Please approve the proposal and support the local community and support local jobs.

I support the Warkworth continuation project. This project is vital to the continued job security of thousands of residents in the Singleton and Hunter Valley area.

There are many businesses in Singleton which will be threatened if this project does not go ahead and many families who will face an uncertain future.

Local apprentices from surrounding areas such as Mt Thorley Industrial Area will have their jobs places at risk due to the decrease in work flow. This will further pile drive Singleton into a nothing town.

In out organisation we have 3 reataurants and over 500 employees . The growth of our businesses relies heavily on the growth of the area . This is determined by mining . If we were to see a reduction in sales not only would the staff feel this but also our local suppliers.

I support the warkworth continuation project.
The continuation of the MTW operation is important to the Singleton and surrounding area communities. The livelihood of many local people will be drastically effected if the proposal does not go ahead. Not only will the people directly employed by the mine face job losses but those who rely on employment in the supporting industries will be effected by job losses a well.

Hi,

I believe in the expansion of Walkworth Mine and strongly support it.

NSW has in recent years become not a land of hope and prosperity but of red tape and bureaucracy. The continuation of Walkworth Mine is a crucial driver for the economy of the Hunter and if it were to be denied it would be hugely detrimental for the region as a whole. Please support the proposal, support the local economy and ensure that the jobs are here to stay.

Regards,

I am in full support of mining in nsw as i am the sole provider of a family of 5 without MTW providing me with employment i beleive me and thousands of other familys would have to leave the region even the state to find employment as the downturn has affected the whole industry after all what industry is left on the east coast to go to if mining giants such as rio tinto find it too hard to mine here and leave.

if this wasnt to go ahead it would destory the area and set the newcastle and hunter region backwards as it would take millions and millions of dollars away from the area.
At lot of families are counting on this to go ahead. if it doesnt most would have to move out of the area.

I support the mt thorley/warkworth mine extention of mining leases because myself and thousand of people in the hunter valley area, if it dosen't go a head will be unemployed. The unployment rate in the hunter area will go up due to out side companies that MTW mine uses will lose business and will have to cut back on workforce. If the MTW extention dosen't go a head there will be a major domimo effect in the area due to very high unemployment, companies losing alot of business and mite have to close and families in the area will suffer the most with no income and no future job prospecks.
