The SSI Process

State Significant Infrastructure

All State significant infrastructure (SSI) applications have to go through a comprehensive assessment process with extensive community participation.

The main steps in this process are summarised below:

• Request Secretary’s environmental assessment requirements (SEARs)
• Prepare EIS
• Exhibit EIS
• Respond to submissions
• Assess SSI
• Determine SSI

In some cases there may be additional steps in the SSI process, including: 

• Amend SSI
• Preferred infrastructure report
• Judicial review

The assessment process for CSSI projects is the same as the SSI process.
